Discuss about the Ethics and Sustainability for Social Entrepreneurship.
Introduction
The report is based on the analysis based in two major ethical issues which are, fabrication of the financial statements and sexual harassment. The ways by which these two ethical issues are able to influence the behaviour of employees within the organization will be discussed in the report. The effect of the ethical management of issues on informing my thought process is also an important part of the discussion.
Summary of the frameworks and issues discussed in Part A
The first issue that has been discussed in Part A of the report is based on the fabrication of the financial statements. The issue is related to the Ibis chain of hotels and different allegations that the organization has failed with respect to the fabrication of financial statements. The company was not able to fulfil its ethical obligation based on providing the exact information related to the financial status (Hotel Australia - Ibis hotels in Australia., 2018). The utilitarian approach is based has been suggested in the ethical framework of the Ibis Hotels. The second issue that has been discussed is also related to Ibis Hotels. The different levels of treatment that have been provided to the employees in the organization, are a major part of the ethical issue which has been faced by Ibis Hotels in the industry. The virtue approach has been suggested in the ethical framework of this issue (Crane & Matten, 2016).
Reflection based on my future workplace behaviour
Ways by which reflecting about ethical management of issues are able to influence workplace behaviour
The ethical management of the issues that have been stated previously is able to affect the ways by which I behave in my workplace in future. The development of proper ethics plays an important in the proper management of the organizations. The Ibis Hotels has not been able to maintain the ethical responsibilities by keeping the profits unreported. According to me, the ethical standards play an important role in the ways by which the organization operates in the industry. The issue of sexual harassment has also played an important role in the work process of the employees. The reputation of the company is also hampered by the issues that are taking place in the external environment (Chell et al., 2016).
Ways by which my future behaviour can be changed based on ethical frameworks
The ethical framework based on the first issue is utilitarian approach which aims at optimal usage of the resources of an organization with the aim of earning enough profits. I will change my future behaviour in such a manner which will help me to use the resources and further report the profits that have been made by my organization in an effective manner. The ethical framework based on second issue is related to the virtue approach of ethical management. This approach is able to provide a perspective to solve the sexual harassment based issues. This approach has taught me ways to use the resources of the organization in a virtuous manner (Hoffman, Frederick & Schwartz, 2014).
Ways by which the professional ethics are able to influence my behaviour
The professional ethics play an important role in the ways by which I behave within the organization. The ethical standards of the organization are able to shape my levels of behaviour in the organization and with the other colleagues who are a part of the organizational processes. According to me, the professional ethics are important for proper operations of the organization and the behaviour of the employees. The employees who do not follow the professional ethics can further affect the ways by the organization is perceived in the industry (Weiss, 2016).
Ways by which the behaviour of senior management is able to influence my behaviour
The senior management will also be able to shape my behaviour in the organization. The levels of respect that is provided to me by the members of senior management are important for deciding the respect that I give to the managers. The relationship which is maintained by senior management with me will play an important in mu behaviour (Michaelson et al., 2014).
Ways by which corporate governance can influence my behaviour
The corporate governance structures are thereby based on the management of the organization. The levels of governance and hierarchy will be able to create trustworthy relationships within the management and employees. Proper corporate governance of my organization will thereby help me to maintain positive relationships within the organization. The positive relationships will be able to affect my behaviour as well (Kaptein, 2017).
Effect of the organizational culture on my behaviour
The culture of the organization of which I am a part is able to affect my behaviour in a positive or negative manner. The type of culture which is created within the organization is able to decide the effect that it has on the performance of the employees. I will be able to behave positively within an organizational culture where the employees are considered to be a part of the growth process. On the other hand, the organizations where the employees are not involved in the decision making process, I will tend to behave in a negative manner (Su, 2014).
Ways by which ethical codes of conduct are able to affect the organization
The ethical codes of conduct are able to create a unique cultural base within the organization. The corporate culture of the company is able to form a unique competitive advantage within the industry. The ethical culture of an organization is able to develop an ethical environment which is created with the help of effective leadership. The ethical codes are thereby able to provide the organization with a positive culture and environment (Hoffman, Frederick & Schwartz, 2014).
Conclusion
The report can be concluded by stating that the ethical standards play an important role in the ways by which organizations operate and the behaviour of the employees as well. The ethical issues that are faced by organizations are thereby able to affect the reputation and trustworthiness.
