1.What is your suggested insurance career position?
Insurance is majorly known to be a contract between a company and its clients, where the company agrees to protect the clients from losses that might occur in the unforeseen future. For instance, under the income protection policy, the company assures the clients that if they are unable to work due to unavoidable circumstances, the company will meet some of the client’s costs. In the insurance industry, there are various insurance careers that one might take. They include sales and marketing insurance, research and analysis, investigation and problem-solving insurance and risk management and developing strategies insurance. Personally, I would prefer the sales and marketing insurance as my career position if I ventured into the insurance business.
Sales and marketing insurance involves the trade of insurance to the target groups in the society. The sales and marketing managers ought to convince the target customers of the importance of the insurance being sold. They do this exchange of compensation, salaries, and commissions. The salespersons of insurance ensure customers satisfaction from their services. They are also responsible for preparing sales action plans and strategies.
2.List the role and responsibilities of the position.
Basically, the sales and marketing career position has the responsibility of development and presentation of company services to the existing and potential clients. They play a significant role in the insurance company by keeping sales activities records and preparing sales reports. This helps the company know when sales are high and when they are low, and the steps to take to remain in the market. They are also responsible for negotiating with the clients for sales and developing sales proposals on behalf of the company. The sales and marketing persons also respond to sales concerns and inquiries from the clients either physically, in person or electronically through phone calls, text messages or emails. They represent the insurance company in sales events, shows, and exhibitions. They showcase their services to new clients in the event. The sales and marketing persons also play a very vital role in monitoring the company’s competitors; determining marketing conditions and if there is the need for services development. By monitoring the competitors, they can know their strengths and weaknesses. They know where to improve their services to outdo their competitors in the market. Determining market conditions, the salespersons can clearly identify the gaps in the society and know how to reach out to the needs of the people.
3.What steps would you take to pursue that career?
For one to pursue the sales and marketing career in the insurance company, there are various steps one needs to pursue. One needs knowledge of applicable computer applications, for instance, the use of PowerPoint in a slide presentation of the services offered during events. The fundamental principles and practices of sales such as communication skills are essential aspects while venturing in the career. The customer service and business principles are essential steps in pursuing the career. Finally, the capacity to attain sales targets should be proven.
