1.Clearly state the “mystery” and provide a brief summary of at least two (2) reasonable and scholarly theories which could explain the mystery. Because some theories may sound far-fetched, include the source or promoter of each theory – such as a scientist, a historian, a theologian, etc.
2.After summarizing at least two (2) scholarly theories, identify one (1) of the theories as the most plausible and provide at least two (2) convincing reasons why the theory you have chosen is the best one to explain the mystery. This will involve some critical reasoning skills on your part.
3.Use at least two (2) sources plus the class textbook. (Three sources total as the minimum) Note: Wikipedia and other similar Websites do not qualify as academic resources. You are highly encouraged to use the Resource Center tab at the top of your Blackboard page.
The death of King Tutankhamen has remained a mystery throughout the ages. The archeologists have tried to explore the real reason of the death of King Tutankhamen but the actual reason could not be found till date. He died at an early age while he was ready to take the responsibilities.
There are many theories that are attached with the death of the king. The first theory is the theory of Ay. It was known that the relation between king Tutankhamen and Ay were worse and that king himself killed Tutankhamen out of greed. He knew that if he killed King Tutankhamen he would be able to inherent the throne and would be able to become the next pharaoh. However it can be mentioned as mere coincidence that King Ay was given the throne after King Tutankhamen died aat the age of 18 (Harrison, 2017).
The other theory is the theory of Hormheb. He was the deputy of the king and he might be held responsible for the death of King Tutankhamen. The reason for this that King Tutankhamen was getting old and he was ready to take powers and he was making decisions without the assistance of Hormheb. The new thinking of Tutankhamen was not liked by Hormheb and therefore this could be the reason of killing Tutankhamen.
There are however some other causes of death that are the scientific factors. Those include that the king was suffering from some kind of infection (Rühli & Ikram, 2014). Moreover it was found that king had a broken leg that can brings a new light on the death of the king. In spite all such speculations the real reason was not yet detected.
