The Malaysian experience of integrated transport

The transport industry is the sectors that involve the service of providing transportation of cargo or passengers from one destination to another. This can also involve warehousing and storage of goods. The establishments based in these sectors the method of transportation related facilities as an asset. The mode of transportation is also dependable on the type of equipments used. The purpose of this article is to understand the academic researches made on the transportation industry in relation to the recruitment, selection, planning and purpose of the industry and their role towards society.

As per the authors Zailani et al. (2014) the process of integrated transport in Malayisa has improved at an immense pace since the last 10 years. The entire industry has expanded from 6.0% to 7.3% in the year of 2014 and with the availability of quick and affordable transport this has made a significant change overall. This approach of this article has spearheaded towards the integrated method of planning and delivery of transport in different modes, also by identifying and implementing financial mechanisms for lead agency. By introducing congestion, method of pricing and well covered in other Asian counties is an example of such. The research shows that Asia’s growth of transport has made a supply chain that has become fundamental to manufacturing outputs, globally. At the present, around 70% of global container is handled by Asian ports and out of ten, nine of the biggest container ports in the world in present in Asia. There has also been numerous opportunities for T&L firms that has been driving these sectors in high urbanization rates.  There is also the factor of poor infrastructure networks that have been a drag on the growth of these sectors. Also because of having most of the world’s population, the transport industry of Asia is also the largest and busiest.

While this study applies to public sectors, this input from the research is helpful in my study of the Transportation sector. As mentioned above that as Asia has the largest population, the industry has been blooming because of that as well that the reason why the industry has a huge recruit rate. They study highlights the key parts of the industry with which it is understandable that why is one of the leading sectors of the world. As most of the raw materials are from Asia, economically the transport industry has a huge number to carry out the duty. In countries like India and China combined, there lies around 36% of the world’s population which is why these two countries has the most number of transportation service and yet the industry is making more modes of transport. Also in the last 10 years, both the countries have grown into an exceptional level economically, which is why they are able to afford better methods of transport towards the environment. There has been the introduction of LPG gas that is does not produce CO2 and this is better for the overall effects towards the betterment of the environment.

Effects of the airline industry on transportation

As per the author David (2013) the effects of the airline industry towards the method of transport has been groundbreaker ever since the introduction of airline service. It is because of the fact that the airline industry was made with the sole purpose of transportation. This would include both the transportation of passengers and cargo as well. The purpose of this research is to service that this industry offers other than just the basic modes of transport. This would involve the satisfaction of customers and the quality of service that is offered to the passengers (Bartlett & Van Aken, 2014). This research highlights the facts that despite all the contribution towards society: the industry does suffer from some certain setbacks such as cutting costs, management of demands related to fluctuation and most importantly to maintain the quality while balancing the superior first class service. As most of the companies of the airline, industry maintains a strict decorum that comprises of legacy involving large and complex support and operations. The research has shown that customer satisfaction in the airlines industry is an important measuring aspect as other airline industries compete with one another on the aspect of superior service and quality. By the year of the 1990s, the superior service towards customers has become a mandatory aspect and competition that is created by deregulation has turned more in tense.

While this study applies to public sectors, this input from the research is helpful in my study of the airline sectors. In terms of comparativeness, proving high-end customer service is one of the key factors of the industry. The extent serves the customer needs and requirements. Although the definition of service may vary from different perspectives, however the is the best service is actually measured from the customer’s view. The response of the quality of transport and the service received from the customers is the measuring aspect in which the service is measured. Satisfaction is the customer’s fulfillment response and the judgment that a product or service is featured with. There are instances when customers have lost their belonging during their flights, also when there are inadequate supply or food and water, these circumstances effect the reputation of the business a lot. If the customer were not satisfied then it would affect the overall airline industry. This is where airline industry is different from the rest of the transport sectors as customer satisfaction is perhaps the most important aspect there. This is same not just for Australian airlines but for all the airline industries of the world.

Environmental impacts of the transportation industry

According to the authors Pan, Ballot & Fontane (2013), it is known that CO2 is one of the leading causes of the population and global warming. Industries has environmental and economical impacts, for example the method of transportation uses a lot of energy and even burns most of the world’s petroleum content, which in turn would lead to air pollution and the increase of nitrous oxides that would make it a great contributor to the process of global warming. Even carbon dioxide is emitted from the vehicles, which is why transport industry is called one of the biggest emission sector. The use of energy and emission varies a lot between modes that would cause environmentalists to call transition from the methods of air, road and rail transport as well the increase of electrification and energy of transportation methods. CO2 is emitted from all the possible modes of transport and this has been going on till the time transport was made through the invention of engines. The research shows that the high emission of CO2 is also the cause of global warming that causes significant changes in the temperature. Especially in urban cities, due to high access of transport there is high volume of CO2.

While this study applies to public sectors, this input from the research is helpful in my study of transportation sectors as well as the effects it causes to the environment. As it is known that air is essential however when it gets polluted, it can cause severe health effects as well. European countries and Australian have included many measures to keep a tightened and improvement of the roads and diesels that would maintain the ship emissions of pollution. In some countries, introduction of liquid petroleum gases and other cleaner fuel has been implemented to make sure.  Another key method includes the plantation of trees in parks and playgrounds that would absorb the CO2 elements. Transport industry is undoubted one of the major contributors to air pollution however due to such measures that would maintain a clean air. The current air quality has improved in the last five years due to many programs to preserve the environment however there are still waste materials from ships in the ocean that affects marine life as well.

According to the author Cooney (2013) this report explores the importance of the licensing system towards the transportation industry. Commercial vehicles such as taxis, buses, trucks, operate under a schedule and with a huge number of logistic based operational methods. This also involved a large passenger trafficking. Therefore, to maintain the road safety and the people, licensing systems are made to ensure that these are followed as per the law. Due to the fast growth of commercial practices, the use of transport system has increased to an excessive amount. Thus the Ministry of Transport has included initiatives like IC cards for electronic license nowadays to maintain the law.

Importance of the licensing system in the transportation industry

While this study applies to public sectors, this input from the research is helpful in my study of transportation and the safety. Road safety is important specialty for commercial based vehicles. IC cards for electronic licensing are especially for road transport in transportation sectors that is a mandatory nowadays. IC cards are so beneficial that when an  industrial transportation vehicle enters an antenna reading area, the antenna can detect the card and the data is automatically determine and all information of the vehicle is stored with the name of the driver and the industry. It is very important for the transportation-based industries to hire trained drivers as well. Not because of the fact that they are more adaptable to road conditions and uncertain circumstances, but also because it reduces the chance of major accidents. As there may be potential hazardous conditions on the way, the trained drivers are adaptable to weather change and other type of visibility conditions. Also for industries, as some of the vehicles may carry some expensive shipments or goods, therefore the company hires a professional they can trust. The drivers who are normally appointed in professional industries gets their background checked through many tests to make sure they are compatible enough to be entrusted with the duty of transportation.  It is because of this fact that these transportation based industries drivers those who are well known. A professional driver can be one of the most important factors towards the transport industry as the most important responsibility is entrusted with that person.

According to the author Ballantyne, Lindholm & Whiteing (2013) the research that shows the rise of urban freight transport have acknowledged the fact that freight has their overall planning towards transport. When goods are collected and transported within the urban environments it is at that moment the warehouses and all the related centers for distribution connects though means of transport like railways, highways or even pipelines. These urban freights looks into the fact of the time and date to make a specific solution which would make decision making much better and effective. When the urban freights grow, the impact is distributed amount the entire community. This research examines the different context that would demonstrate the planning in which freights can improve a long range towards the margin of the stakeholders. Freights are essential in supporting the international and domestic methods of trade also the daily needs for the locals consumers and businesses. With the help of urban freight transport, one of the main drivers has significantly improved the world’s population. This research contradicts previous researches that various ways local authorities consider transport and demonstrate the ways problems are faced by authorities who are not specific towards a particular area.

While this study applies to public sectors, this input from the research is helpful in my study of transportation. The same data has been analyzed to highlight the factors that influence the perception and idea of local authorities when it is contrasted towards the factors related to freight operation and any sort of issues related to commercial transport in urban areas. The rate of distribution of centers and retails stores is affected by the freight transportation. The stakeholders those who are inclined towards this industry are divided into two kinds of groups, the ones who have interest in the system of logistics and those who have influence towards the system.  However towards the transport industry, are divided however some of them do not look into the fact they are separate stakeholders. This also shows that citizens have an interest towards the urban freight transport however no direct impact on the system.
