Use the topic based on the American culture. Any Artifact would be preferable The Journal of American Cultures is a weekly activity. Follow the listed guidelines below:
1. Students are to choose one or more of your experiences from your week or a recent time that involves some aspect or activity in our culture. You may write about an experience you have had recently and not necessarily within a particular week during our term.
Your topic is your choice but this must have cultural value in relation to our studies. For example, if you attend a concert or a local festival then these would work well in your journal. If you have opportunity to participate in a non-affiliated cultural activity, then write about this experience. But most of all, you must explain your experience from a cultural perspective. If you are not certain of your choice feel free to email me for input.
2. Journal entries are read by the professor only. Your entries should not exceed one page, double spaced. Post your reflections in the text box of the quiz dated for the relevant week.
Thanksgiving has been an integral part of my life and every year I look forward to this event. Though the festival might mark the arrival of the fall season and expressing a sense of gratitude, but for me it is the celebration of my family bond, and every year on this day we gather together at my grandparent’s house and indulge in the revelry. A feast is laid on the table, and it is mandatory for my mother to cook turkey on this auspicious day. The turkey is filled with the most exotic stuffs that one can imagine and it is a treat to dug into it and relish the meal. This year my mother made pineapple pie, ad it was another attraction beside the other exotic dishes. All my uncle and aunts are ought to be present on the dinner table and we all say a little prayer before we start the feast. The thanksgiving dinner is an opportunity for me to catch up with most of my relatives in this fast paced world. It is not only the people in our lives that we should be thankful for but also for the food that is present on our table for which we should be thankful to the almighty. I being a big foodie, the dinner is the most important thing for me on any thanksgiving occasion. Any thanksgiving dinner is never complete without playing the song "Cooking Up Something Good" by Mac DeMarco on the record payer on my grandfather.
