A number of mechanical failures over time have impelled Toyota Company to severally recall some of their vehicles. In 2013, for instance, this company recalled around one million vehicles in America. Such occurrences have affected the firm’s reputation in addition to diminishing its returns. These mechanical failures have been associated with poor Human Resource processes particularly deprived talent development among the employees. They were instigated by employee errors since the majority lacked motivation, suitable training, and they were also inadequately rewarded and recognized (Sullivan, 2010).
After figuring out this root cause of the problems, Toyota Company has endeavored to review its HR process in order to achieve a pool of employees who can make good decisions, craft a convincing business case for swift action, and deal with negative news. In order to support and incent the correct behaviors and dishearten the negative ones, the firm has implemented proper ways of rewarding and recognizing its workers. Besides, appropriate hiring and training procedures have been put into practice to bring on board top-performing persons with the highest echelon of capabilities and skills which are needed to deal with the most multifaceted tribulations (Sullivan, 2010).
Riverwood logistics can follow suit and implement robust HR practices that will help solve its poor staffing issues. The company should for instance, reward and recognize their employees to foster right behaviors, incent and encourage them gather information about problems (Anastasia, 2015). In addition to that, Riverwood should fine-tune its recruitment and training practices because in so doing they will have a group of employees which the right skills and capabilities and can easily identify a problem. The case of Toyota Company as a real life example will help Riverwood refurbish its staffing process with ease unlike relying on a fictional company. If possible the responsible executives can consult Toyota Company HR practitioners for an easy breakthrough.
