The first slide states about the distinct features of consumer behaviour. Consumer behaviour is related to the study of individuals and groups that is associated with the purchasing of a product and regarding disposal of goods along with services. Consumer behaviour refers to an inter-disciplinary social science that blends different aspects of psychology, economics and sociology. It illustrates how the emotions and attitudes affect the buying behaviour of an individual. Consumer behaviour came into existence in 1940 which is a distinct sub-discipline in the arena of marketing. Personality, lifestyle, loyalty and brand advocacy are the different factors that are investigated in relation to studies pertaining to consumer behaviour (Schiffman et al. 2013).
The second slide states about the different stages of buyer decision process. The stages in relation to buyer decision process was introduced by John Deway in the year 1910. The five stages are need recognition, information search, evaluation of the alternatives, purchase decision and post purchase behaviour. The first stage helps in highlighting the problem and identifying the product that can help in satisfying the need (East et al. 2016). The consumer researches about the product that would help in satisfying the need. The consumer evaluates the alternative options and the consumer undergoes research on different products and the product that would best serve the need of the consumer. After the evaluation of all the options, two things are considered by the consumer(Saad 2017). They are what other people think about the product and unforeseen circumstances. Unforeseen circumstances can refer to the financial loss that the consumer may incur on account of purchasing the product. Post purchase dissonance can be experienced by the consumer after he buys the product when he feels that other product would have been better for him.
The third slide talks about my purchase-Dell XPS 13 Laptop. A laptop that I purchased is Dell XPS 13 that is one of the best laptop that is ultraportable of recent times. Its special features and unique specifications will be able to help me in my professional life greatly and so I purchased the product so that it can satisfy my need for a laptop.
The fourth slide talks about the need and stimuli that compelled me to buy the product. The functionality includes that of 13 inch screen and has a resolution of 3200 * 1800 resolution and possesses a versatile Intel Core i5-6200U Processor. This has made the model competitive and this is the reason why it has stayed ahead of its competitors. The weight of the laptop is light and thus I can easily carry it and it can easily fit into the bag (Schiffman et al. 2013). The look of the notebook is very attractive and its classy look endears it to the consumer. The 8 GM RAM can store a lot of information and files that can serve all kinds of purposes. It has got a high speed drive (256 GB PCL e SSD) that is extremely convenient for me as I have to perform task quickly which is necessitated by my professional life.
The fifth slide talks about the brands available in the market. The different brands of laptop that are popular in the market are that of Asus, Acer, HP Inc and Sony. These are the coveted brands of the consumers that are bought for their superior specifications along with quality (Sudhir et al. 2015).
The sixth slide talks about the considered, back up and avoided alternative. As an alternative, I considered Lenovo Yoga Book that has Intel Atom x5-Z8550 (CPU). I had considered it as it was cheap and the screen can easily fold so one can use it either as a laptop or as a tablet. It has become a bit more versatile and offers the customers to purchase it either with Windows 10 or with that of Android 6.0 onboard. As a back up alternative I have thought of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and it acts a perfect cross between that of nimble Windows Tablet and that of a laptop that fully functions (Solomon 2014). It is a great Windows device that has the hardware along with the software working together and in complete harmony. I avoided the Asus Transformer Mini T102HA. The performance of the laptop is very slow and I will find it extremely difficult to accomplish a lot of task within a short framework of time.
The seventh slide talks about the method by taking recourse to which I bought the product. I bought the Dell XPS 13 Laptop with the help of my debit card. I purchased it online with the help of the popular website “Amazon”. On account of my hectic professional life, I do not get the necessary time to go to a physical store and so buying it online proved to be of great convenience for me. I also got an additional discount of 10% after purchasing it from the e-commerce site (Solomon, Russell-Bennett and Previte 2013).
The eighth slide talks about cognitive dissonance. Cognitive Dissonance refers to the feeling in relation to uncomfortable tension that arises when one experiences conflicting thoughts in their mind (Sudhir et al. 2015). I did not experience cognitive dissonance as I was happy with the product I bought. It does not weigh much and weighs around 1.2 kg. It has a decent track pad and it is quite good as compared to that of the competitors. The keyboard is quite well-spaced and does not need any kind of adjustment. The casing that is surrounding the keyboard is coated in a rubber like material. It feels really soft and was comfortable to touch.
