Introduction
This report analyzes the finance management in health care sector in Australia. The health institution chosen to be used in the analysis of this subject is Auckland City hospital. The vision of Auckland City hospital is “Healthy communities-World class health care-Achieved together.” The mission of the hospital is “to improve the health of the Auckland DHB population and all New Zealanders who access our services, through quality health and services for the disabled.”
Auckland City Hospital has a variety of tangible and intangible assets which are used by the hospital to facilitate its daily provision of health care services to patients. Some of the tangible assets include; Dialysis machine, buildings housing the facility and cash (Walshe & Smith, 2011). The intangible l assets include; electronic medical records, workforce and certificate of need. The political environment has an impact on the facility since the government policies and regulations regarding issues such as electronic records and delivery of free medicine from the Government impacts the operations of ACH (Information Resources Management Association, 2018). The economic factors that affect the hospital touch on the resources such as buildings owned by the hospital, land owned by the hospital as well as the workforce of the hospital. The social environment impacts on the workforce of the hospital. The technological environment impacts on the dialysis machines, blood screening machines and the electronic data storage by the hospital. In Auckland City hospital, the environmental factors impacts on the types of medicines used in the hospitals, dumping of waste and environmental state of the hospital facilities where patients are housed (Denton, n.d.). Legal factors affect the operations of hospital workforce, the storage of patient data and management of finances allocated to the hospital (Crippen, n.d.). The external environment of Auckland city hospital is in line with the vision and mission of the organization since the resources are able to support the achievement of the hospitals mission of protecting, promoting, and improving the health care of communities in New Zealand. It also promotes the vision of “World-Class Health care achieved together.”
