Before I started learning about the subject, many thoughts came to my mind. Firstly, the thing that came to my mind is that I will be having an opportunity to learn about the policies and procedures of the companies in the present business scenario. This subject can teach me about some ethics and discipline which needs to be maintained in every sphere of life.
I have read the lessons and have gained an insight into the fact that there should be a discipline in everyone’s life. One should not do unethical things when one is in power (Trevino & Nelson, 2016). People always have a tendency to take undue advantages when someone is in power (Kuleszaet al., 2014). His wrongdoing affects people working under him or her. People sometimes
become impatient and this affects the performance in any industry (Wales, Patel & Lumpkin, 2013). I have also come to know that people needs to maintain the conduct in any workplace. Any wrongdoing on the part of a leader or a manager affects the reputation of a company where they are working (Rosenzweig, 2014). I have also understood that there should be norms and regulations in every company and everyone should abide by the rules otherwise, the work culture will not be there. Employees will be de-motivated once the culture of a company is degraded (Modood & Khattab, 2016). I have come to realize one important thing that if there are any unethical practices going on in any organization, the management should immediately take necessary steps to restore discipline in the company.
I have positive impression after learning the weekly journals. The fact that the Port Authority will be forming an independent body and monitor the operations in the
company has attracted my attention. The agency is trying to employ strict rules and meet the standards of responsibilities and professional ethics. As far as I feel, every company should take necessary steps whenever there is any disciplinary issues. They can also resort to other agencies or third parties who can keep vigilance on the different issues of the company and take necessary actions whenever there is any discrepancy or issues in the organization
Why do you think the subject was presented?
The subject has been presented to send a message to everyone that every organization needs to have some codes of conduct and strict disciplinary issues. The subject has also stated that every company needs to be managed by the leaders on the principles of checks and balances so that nobody can have too much authority or power. Every company needs to form independent bodies that can supervise the overall work of the agencies or the companies, has been considered in the journals. The readings have also put forward a point that any company in any sector must employ a transparent work strategy so that any unethical practices can be prevented. This helps to boost the confidence of the stakeholders and customers have a good perception about the company. All these will help the company to increase the brand loyalty.
What are you thinking and feeling about the topic?
I strongly feel that these journals will be very beneficial to everyone to understand the importance of ethics and responsibility in an organization so that every employee will be able to do their duties with diligence and care. According to me, the topic has a lot of relevance in the present business scenario since many companies are facing legal issues due to various factors.

Four theories of ethics are Consequentialism, Kantian Deontologism, Natural Law and Virtue Ethics (Lefkowitz, 2017). The authors are Garrett, Baillie and Garrett.
What resonates with you?
There are many things that have resonance with myself as I am a much-disciplined person who likes to take responsibilities and work with diligence. I do not put up with any unethical issues and support the process of whistle-blowing in the company where I will be working as these unethical practices have adverse impacts on the productivity of the organization.
How does this topic fit with your own beliefs and philosophies?
This topic fits well with my beliefs as I do not support any unethical practices in my life and even if I am having any power, I will not try to misuse or take any undue advantage as this is against my beliefs and philosophies.

I have liked one thing that the topic is trying to create an awareness among the managers that they will be punished if they get engaged with any form of unethical practices. People should maintain ethics and discipline in life in order to achieve anything (Flick, 2014).

One thing is important for me is that people should be disciplined in life and should not put up with any unethical practices (Marshall & Rossman, 2014).

I have taken many important and relevant information from these journals that have helped me in understanding the significance of discipline and ethics.
What does not resonate with you?
The fact that people misuse power when they have authority and command does not resonate with me. Another thing is that the company does not have proper policies and procedures. This is the main reason that the company suffered so much and its reputation was affected because of the person Samson. There was no proper vigilance in the company and so Samson was able to misuse his power and perform unethical practices.
In what ways does this topic not fit with your beliefs and philosophies?
I believe that any company should formulate its strategies properly whether it is marketing or policies and procedures regarding ethics.
What do you not like about the subject?
One thing I did not like about the subject is that the inefficiencies of the government agencies have not been clearly defined and described. There has been a lot of issues that the government companies are facing because of the lack of proper guidelines and leadership but these have not been clearly identified.
The subject of the topic is not good because it is not so much constructive and not able to provide a good learning experience. I could have gained more knowledge about the policies and codes of ethics if a better case study would have been provided. I did not like the policies of the government agency, mentioned in the journal, because they were lacking disciplines in the organization and also proper vigilance on the part of the management. This was the reason why the company suffered a lot with respect to operations activities, more spending on different activities to stop the unethical activities in the organization. So, there has been a lack of proper leadership and management which I did not like at all.
What is causing you to feel negatively?
The topic portrays the fact that people misuses his or her power when he has a supreme authority. This has put a negative impact on my thoughts about the management of the companies.
What needs to be changed in order for you to enjoy this topic?
This topic could have been made more interesting by including the case of any other government companies where the problems can be found out and measures that are more constructive can be described. The importance of codes and ethics has not been clearly stated and it is very superficial here.
Are your dislikes something with which everybody would agree?
I feel that everyone will agree with my views and support the reasons of my dislikes about the topic. After looking through the topic in depth, everyone will come to understand that the significance of codes and ethics in any organization are not put forward.

How might this affect your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in the future?
This will have an immense impact on my thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I thought that the government agencies strictly follow the rules and regulations in their organizations (Harper, 2015). I have not heard of any unethical practices as such in the past. I, personally always abide by the rules and regulations of anywhere I go.
How could you improve your own life with the knowledge you have gained from this subject?
I have learned from the topic that people needs to be humble in life and must not misuse power (Nussbaum, 2016). I want to improve myself as a perfect human being in future and tell everyone to abide by the rules and regulations wherever they go. I feel there should be transparency in everything I do so that no one dares to denigrate me in front of others or accuse me in any matter (Dawkins, 2016).
What have you learned from this?
The topic has taught me that people should be disciplined in life whether it is in personal life or in professional life (Newman & Newman, 2017). Another aspect that the topic has taught me that if I find any wrongdoing or unethical practices in any organization where I will work in the future, I must bring that issue immediately to the address of the management so that any disciplinary measures can be taken.
What are some specific examples of how you will integrate this topic into your life?
I want to integrate this in my life when I will be working in any organization in the future. I would like to relate this issue with my manager when I will be working in the company. I will try to maintain ethics and work according to my responsibilities. If I become a leader in any organization in the future, I will see that no unethical practices are being done in my organization. When I will join the company, I shall immediately suggest the company to take the help of any third party so that it can put vigilance on the activities of the employees. This will help me to create a good culture in the organization and unethical practices can be reduced largely.
