ACAP Fitness for Practice Policy

This paper will deal with the ACAP code and Professional, and the main aim of the report is to engage the students with the ACAP code and reflect on how this code gets reflected with the professional code of ethics. This paper will highlight the comparison and contrast between the two codes from the two given lists: ACAP Fitness for Practice Policy and the ACA Code of Ethics. Another part of the report will comprise the reflective statement of these codes and the roles and responsibilities, and the limitations of these codes in the professional arena. This report will also deliver the relationship between the personal and professional values to lead the ethics in living style and learning career.

Here for this portion of the study, the two codes that have been chosen for comparison and contrast are ACAP Fitness for Practice Policy and the ACA Code of Ethics.

The core idea behind the ACAP code for fitness practice is to find out the best talents, skills, and knowledge that are essential for achieving core learning outcomes that come under accredited courses that will help to achieve professional membership (McCord et al., 2020). Besides, the motive of this policy is to advise applicants and students concerning the necessary undertake placements and internships by conjunction relevant courses as ability. This code of conduct applies to all learners including the staff members, who not only have a practical approach but are also related to the fact of employment at the college level. On the other hand, the ACA comprises a non-judgmental professional service that is free from any type of workplace discrimination and also shows respect for the dignity of the individuality of the clients (Elkins, 2019). This code is responsible for achieving the needs and provides support for their professional development. This code of ethics promotes anti-discriminatory practice by providing the client respect, and autonomy in decision-making in the workplace also prevents the counselor's awareness. Protection of confidentiality is one of the key factors of the ACA code of ethics, as it provides the client's safety and security for preventing the client's autonomic factors. In this ACA code of ethics

The Fitness for Practice Policy was created to inform prospective students and participants about the requirements for jobs, field research, traineeships, and practical classes. This should be read following the applicable Course underlying prerequisites, which are broader in scope and implemented in the entire Program. At the same time, the ACA Code of Ethics can be described separately. The American Counseling Association (ACA) is a highly-skilled, instructional, and intellectual organization whose members practice in a range of settings and responsibilities. Counseling is a specialized connection that helps individuals, families, and groups achieve their psychological health, well-being, academic, and professional career. The Code functions as a moral guide to assist members to develop a plan of action that ultimately benefits individuals who need professional help and establishes a code of behavior, with an emphasis on the effect of the counselor. ACAP is committed to providing acceptable modifications to teaching, evaluation, orientation, and other activities for individuals to interact in their curriculum. Acceptable adjustments must not fundamentally alter the character of the underlying need. Students with a disability or asymptomatic medical problem may be qualified for support facilities to complete these standards. Students' cultural and religious backgrounds and beliefs are also taken into account, as they may have an impact on their ability to participate in class. Counselors help clients learn and expand in methods that are in their best interests and support the building of healthy relationships (Elkins, 2019). Being a member of the ACA, the Code serves as a moral designed to assist members to develop a line of treatment that best serves persons who need counseling services and specifies standards of conduct, with an emphasis on the effect of the professional counselor. The Code contributes to ACA's objective.

ACA Code of Ethics

A standard of ethics refers to a set of guidelines intended to assist professional people in conducting business honestly and ethically. The purpose and values of the business or institution may be articulated in a code of ethics declaration, as well as how professionals are expected to approach challenges, ethical principles based on the firm's core beliefs, and the requirements whereby the employees belong.

A comprehensive code of ethics provides a roadmap for businesses to identify to meet their ethical obligations to their stakeholders, such as clients, workers, vendors, and stakeholders from the outside.  A documented, well-communicated ethics framework can help protect a company and its products and legal status in the event of a data violation of principles by a staff performance. A ethical standards is required for any organization since a breach of ethics can result in severe problems with customers, other entities, or government entities. (Bannister, 2018). By decreasing ambiguity and considerations of individual views in ethical norms, establishing an ethical code makes decision-making quicker throughout all levels of the organizational hierarchy. The role of ethical codes depends on the eight principles and these are as follows:

  1. Motivation
  2. Orientation
  3. Encouragement of ethical behavior
  4. Preventing and punishing unethical professional behavior
  5. Development of mutual respect and understanding and education
  6. Assisting in the promotion of a positive public image for the profession
  7. Maintaining the existing quo by suppressing professional disagreement and
  8. Using trade restrictions to promote company interests.

The strengths of the ethical code create an atmosphere for working professionals in the organization to work with dignity. The strengths of the Ethical code can explain through certain points below:

The most important strength of an ethical code is that it may promote an atmosphere of loyalty, moral practice, transparency, and excellence. Productivity rises when conflicts and misunderstandings melt away while everyone in the firm, from the top to the bottom of the hierarchy, maintains relatively similar set of standards and acts uniformly toward one another.

Customers nowadays consider beyond just the price. Customers move toward organizations that they consider they can trust in the face of so many competitors, and they reject businesses that do not encourage sustainable ideals (Iavicoli et al., 2018). Clients are not the first ones concerned with ethical behavior. Companies that place a high value on ethical values have a higher chance developing long-term partnerships spanning their entire market.

Underneath the revolutionary Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, also recognised as the Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act, all individuals serving on board members and top management of public companies are obligated to have an ethical code in effort to prevent major corporate controversies like Enron and WorldCom (Gogoll et al., 2021).

A lesser-known benefit of implementing an ethical framework is that it promotes societal reform. We are all responsible for one someone else's enjoyment or displeasure because we share having similar world and a finite number of natural resources. Businesses may contribute to the improvement world environment for everybody, not just a privileged few, by encouraging positive social change.

The following are the four major limits of ethical codes:

  1. Ethical codes are wide standards that are limited to nonspecific and ambiguous wordings. The protocols cannot be immediately applied to every case. Furthermore, in a complicated, diverse engineering profession, it is impossible to anticipate all elements of moral issues that may occur.
  2. Internal conflicts in engineering codes are common, which can lead to moral difficulties. That is, numerous code entries contradict one another, resulting in internal conflicts. However, there is no means of reconciling these contradictions in the code (Leonard, Udoudom & Bassey, 2019).
  3. The codes cannot be relied upon as the ultimate moral superiority for responsible practice.
  4. The profusion of ethical codes for various fields of engineering creates the impression that ethical standards are relative.
  5. Since there is no dedication from the entire organization, a company's ethical code has its limitations. Regrettably, nobody can be forced to follow the code, although they can be taught to do so. Staffs generally follow the code of ethics, although senior management does not necessarily share this commitment. Because this does not provide an example, it can be difficult for employees to continue to observe the ethical code. As a result, this circumstance may result in demotivated employees, an unsuitable working atmosphere, and even business closures.
  6. Another example of a constraint is the fact that some organizations have ethical codes, yet they are not followed. They may have built the code for no other reason than to have it, and no one on the company's staff utilizes or is cautious of it. The existing code of ethics has no impact on top management or workers.

According to John Berger, Human has no future without ethics. That is to suggest, that mankind cannot exist without them. Choices and actions are guided by ethics, which suggests challenging priorities (Palumbo-Liu, 2020). Personal values lead us through life, but our organizational ethics should guide us through our work choices. People can be more thoughtful in their professional journeys by articulating and perceiving these principles. Personal morality refers to the ethical principles that Whenever engaging with individuals and circumstances in their everyday routines, a person follows a set of rules. Professional ethics are values that a professional must adhere to in their work interactions and business operations (Aktan, Toraman & Orakci, 2020). Professional and personal ethics might contradict in some instances, resulting in a moral conflict. Consider the following scenario:

The Role of Ethical Codes

A law enforcement officer may genuinely think that the legislation he is responsible for implementing is unjust. Under the Australia Police Code of Conduct, he is expected to follow all legitimate and moral requests to administer that legislation until there is sufficient cause to do differently.

A general practitioner may not consider that a people's clinical treatment policy is a good alternative. According to the Australian Medical Association's Ethical code, she must safeguard the patient's rights, individuality, and personal liberty. (Limentani, 1999).

Students' codes of ethics may differ from one institution to the next.

Respect is a feeling or knowledge that someone is important, significant, or indispensable enough to be treated with respect. Respect for others is an important part of life in ways that strengthen great relationships and achieve success (Fisher, 2021). If you engage them well, they will return the favor. Treating others around the way you want to be regarded is one approach to demonstrating respect for them.

Becoming open-minded means, you're willing to listen to other people’s political views and opinions and consider the possibility that if you're wrong or that your perspective may shift. Open-mindedness can promote mutual understanding, which supports the concept of students who work productively and cooperatively toward common goals, even if they disagree strongly (Snell, Tjosvold & Wu, 2010).

Tolerance has a critical importance in the society's day-to-day operations. We've never had so many opportunities to interact with folks from all around the globe and communicate their native tongues. Team spirit occurs whenever group members desire the team to succeed. In an academic context, this appears to be an option for establishing acquaintances and speaking with others. On a personal level, collaboration can assist each child. A majority of children must listen carefully to one another, discuss ideas, and to provide real valuable criticism in order to be productive.

Conclusion

In today's world, businesses can no longer manage to be only focused on their bottom line. It is more important to focus on the ethical aspects of running a corporation, or a well ethical code is growing as the precondition for success. There are numerous methods to contribute to a university's or school's influence. Students participating in activities outside of the institution must conduct themselves in a manner that complies with their role as university representatives. This can happen during trips around the world, such as participation in exchange programs at partner colleges, internships overseas, or in any company in the home country. This necessitates exemplary behavior at home and abroad, demonstrating gained knowledge and promoting the institution and the place of origin.
