§ CAT – 5  

According to different length between routers and workstation, use a proper cable for better data transfer, such as CAT-6 and CAT-7 cables.  CAT 8.2 cable will be better for connecting network-attached storage.  

For 100-meter length between devices use CAT – 6 cables and for 50-meter length between devices uses CAT-7 cables. CAT 8.2 cables can be used for patch cables for fast data transfer. It has ISO/IEC 11801-1:2017 standard. Standard cable reduce fault in network.

Speed of Cables

CAT-6 cable can transfer data up to 1000 Mbps speed with the frequency 250 MHz Speed of data transfer is really matter. In case of horizontal cable, use a proper distance cable as per the requirement, such as CAT -6 for 100-meter length ( Laven, 2016).

CAT- 7 cable can be transfer data with the 10 Gbps speed with the 600 MHz frequency. Data transfer Speed is required but length is a barrier for data transfer so used a proper cable for data transfer, according to requirement. Data transfer speed is also depending on the frequency of the cable.  

Main Function of Cables

Cat- 5 – this cable is used for transfer data with the speed of 100 Mbps. It has 100 MHz signaling frequency. These cables are primarily used in networking environment. It is used in 100BaseX Ethernet architecture. It is used to connect computers, hubs, switches and print servers.  It is also used for Asynchronous Transfer Mode architectures. Complete system is used CAT – Cables. It is 100BASE-TX standard.

For fast data transfer category, 6 cables will be used. Cat-6 is a 4-pair cable. It provides an improved performance as compared to Cat 5e. It has capacity to transfer data up to 1000 Mbps. It has 250 MHz signaling frequency.

For connecting different buildings, optical fiber cable is best for fast data transfer.  Use different cables, according to need, such as for patch cables use high quality cables. For horizontal cabling use CAT-6 Cables for data transfer. Always use proper standard cable for avoiding faults in network ( Rouse, 2010).   

Category – 7 cables will be used for better data transfer but they are more costly compared to CAT-6 cables. Cat- 7 is a fully shielded twisted pair cable. It is operates at the signal frequency of 600 MHz.  In case of connecting switch to device used CAT-7 for fast data transfer. Fully shielded means all the 4 pairs of a cable have an extra shield over them. In case of switch connection, use CAT- 8/ 8.1 or CAT-8.2 cables for high-speed data transfer. Properly used different cable according to requirements and it will be increase speed of data transfer. So use CAT- 6 for 100-meter length, CAT-7 for 50-meter length, and for 30-Meter length use CAT – 8 cables.
