Advert Co is a large company specialising in graphic design and advertising, the case study presented describes four outstanding issues that is prevalent within the company affecting its performance. The case study introduces Sue Yan and George Thong who were transferred from Indonesia to work at Advert Co, it is evident that there are individual behaviour issues when they discover they are paid a lot less compared to the local employees, Sue’s performance drops as she believes this is unjust. George conversely is grateful for his job as his literacy skills are not as good due to the language barrier. The case study introduces Sally Jones who started with a good work ethic, but performance levels dropped to become more likeable to the team highlighting individual behaviours. The case study demonstrates issues of an insufficient rewards system when the team works hard but do not get adequate reward which is given to each member regardless of their performance level. Another contributing issue is the lack of training received by the staff as they were not prepared the carry out their job properly again affecting performance. Distraught with the reward received they attempt to communicate their dismay with management who instead of taking the information on board fuels to conflict by retorting an angry manner which escalates the situation to legal action demonstration the companies insufficient conflict resolution strategy.
Organisation behaviour is considered to be a major aspect for the quality of service and profit earning for an organisation. In fact, the organisational behaviour is intertwined with the workplace culture though putting more focus on the individual aspects (Gelfand et al. 2017). It can be argued that the positive working culture in a workplace with motivation and encouraging the employees will deliver a better outcome in terms of increase the profit and productivity of the company (Kanfer and Chen 2016). Based on this understanding, the report develops an understanding with reference to the given scenario. As per the case study there are three individual employees in the Advert Co. Company with their different behaviour and motivational aspects. For an instance, Sue Yan is dealing with her payment issue where she found out that other employees earned more in compare to her salary. On the other hand, George Thong was overwhelmed with the workplace environment of the company but he was facing lack of expertise in his English language. Therefore, he wanted to take care of that. Furthermore, Sally could not deal with the irresponsible attitude of her colleagues though she tried to negotiate with them for doing the work properly. In this given context, the purpose of this report is to identify the issues and discuss them in the light of organisational behaviour model. The report incorporates the MARS Model and the Maslow’s Needs Hierarchy Theory in order to get a clear understanding of the issues. Moreover, the discussion provides a recommendation so that it will helpful to mitigate the problems.
