PDP for career

Developing plans for better carer life is quite an important task, and it requires planning and effective implementation procedure. Before preparing the plan, it is recommended to conduct self-analysis through which the strengths and weaknesses can be analysed by the individual. This is one of the most important factors that will help the individual to cope with the challenges that an individual expects to face. The negative aspects need to be analysed as this will help the individual in creating an effective development opportunity.  One this has been done, it is necessary to assess the current skills through which the areas of concerns can be worked upon by the individual (Bimrose et al., 2008).

With the help of an effective personal development plan, an individual can identify the areas that need to be developed and worked upon. Through the analysis procedure the individual can either acquire new skills or work towards developing the existing skills that is related to the behavioural attributes. Both the factors are considered to be quite important for the effective implementation of the PDP plan. In this process, the behavioural attributes are also included as this will hep in the development of the tasks that are considered to be necessary for accomplishing the task that is related to development in career. For accomplishing the set target, the following aspects are taken into consideration –

  • Develop strategies for enhancing the personal skills that is required for performing the current role within the organization
  • Analyse and evaluate the steps that need to be followed for enhancing the performance for improving the current role (Brown, Rhodes, and Carter, 2004).
  • Analyse the challenges and develop an effective to work towards the same.

These aspects are considered to be quite important and have to be analysed n the best possible manner. In some cases, the employers of the company recommend the employees to prepare an effective plan through which the required changes can be implemented by the management. Analysing the weak aspects often individual will help in adopting different steps for improving the personal skills to work as a team member is developed and implemented. Some of the skills that re required for the individuals to perform better at the workplace include –

  • Ability to work as a team-member
  • Capable to handle the challenges that exists at the workplace (Burden and Lee 2006).
  • Analysing the challenges and working towards finding an effective solution for the same
  • Developing skills through which the issues that exist at the workplace can be easily handled by the individual.

In order to analyse required skills for performing the tasks, it is recommended to undertake skill test that will help the individual to analyse the areas that needs to be worked upon. In this process, it is essential to develop the objectives through which the weakness areas can be worked upon. Such an analysis will also help the management in developing the better methods through which the objectives for developing the required skills can be catered in the best possible manner. Such factors are required for analysing the weakness and strengths that needs to be worked upon by the individual. In this process, the challenges and other factors should be calculated on the real time basis. In other words the information that is mentioned in the system has to be real and there shouldn’t be any fake information included into the process (Eraut, 2009).

In this process, the below mentioned points needs to be mentioned in the best possible manner –

1. Personal objectives - Such factors include the growth prospective and the future expectations of the company. These things have to be analysed and the corrective steps needs to be taken to implement the required changes through which the quality for accomplishing the task can be listed down. In this process, the weak areas also have to be clearly mentioned. This will help in accomplishing the task in the best possible manner. For this, the required skills for performing the tasks have to be listed down in the right manner.

2. Analysing the strengths – In this process the challenges that are faced by the individuals at the time of accomplishing the task has to be analysed and the same needs to be communicated with the members. The strengths include the ability to perform the task, the steps that need to be taken for analysing the challenges, and other factors that will be useful in performing the tasks at the workplace (Fuller, A. and Unwin, 2008).

3. Weakness - In this case the challenges that are faced by the individuals at the time of reforming the task has to be checked. This has to be evaluated as this will help in accomplishing the task. Also the area that needs to be worked upon has to be evaluated. This will have to be analysed and the procedure that needs to be followed for finishing the task has to be included in the plan.

4. Listing downs the priorities - This is one of the most important factors that need to be considered at the time of preparing the list for the PDP. At the beginning of the job, the priority is to earn well and learn the different procedure for accomplishing the task. Once this has been done, the individual needs to plan different methods through which the individual can progress in career path. This also includes developing plan for growing the care which is considered to be one of the most important tasks (James, 2008).

5. Analysing the requirements - In this method, the individual has to list down the features that are considered to be quite critical for performing different tasks at the workplace. This is followed by analysing the beneficial factors that are considered to be not so critical for improving or performing at the current role. In the similar manner, it is crucial to consider the factors that are considered to be quite beneficial for progressing in the career.

Such analysis is considered to be quite important and needs to be evaluated at the time of preparing the PDP plan. The skills and weak areas are some of the major factors that need to be analysed by the individual at the time of preparing the plan. Based on the skills that is adopted by the individuals essential set can be taken for implementing the necessary changes that will be useful in the future development (Moon, 2005).

Conclusion

PDP is considered to be quite an important factor that plays a key role in developing the best plan that will be useful in implementing the changes that are considered to be necessary for the individual. The challenges that are expected to be faced by the individual have to be analysed and corrective steps to improve upon the same has to be taken.
