Discussion
Step 1
The discussion focuses on National debt. It falls on the government of a country to tackle its national debt. The Federal Government of The United States has been under outstanding debt and it is currently at $19.9 trillion (Anderson & Crook, 2016). The situation has leaded US to become the only single country under such huge debt. The debt is almost equivalent to the debt of 28 countries of European Union. This challenging and alarming situation has grabbed the attention of many to debate on the topic.
Step 2
In the article, Arize et al. (2014) used a neo-classical theoretical approach to understand the impact of budget in the increasing rate of national debt. It was found that it is by the formulation of the budget, people were found to invest less and that resulted in one of the crucial point in increasing national debt. Tsur, (2014) in the journal article has proposed that it is due to the influence of the democratic nature of the country, the government does not get ample opportunity to perform. It is due to restricted tenure, the government fails to address the important issues like National debt and thus, it keeps on increasing. The authors are credible because their articles have been published from reputed Universities and they are academically highly qualified as well.
Step 3
According to me, Arize et al. have presented debate that is more convincing in the discussion and is more credible. The authors have pointed out some vital issues that equally affect the national economy of a country. As commented by Tsur, the tenure cannot be the only reason behind the creation of national debt. In order to gain more information, I would require to conduct an empirical research. The research shall be based on secondary credible sources. In addition to this, primary research by interviewing experts or by a major focus group can also add credibility to the overall research.
