Discuss About The Politics Of Metropolitan Versus Vernacular.
The term theory of knowledge refers to the epistemology that is considered to be the most important in the areas of philosophy. The first issue pertaining to epistemology is that the definition of knowledge. It has been found that most of the time, the philosophers deploy the tripartite theory of knowledge that analyzes the knowledge as has been understood to its true belief as the working model. Gettier cases have shown that there certain true beliefs do not comprise of knowledge. There have been proposition of rival knowledge. Another important issue in epistemology is that is the source of the knowledge. It has been found that there are two traditions in respect to the accumulation of knowledge, one is the rationalism and the other one is empiricism. The thesis of this paper is to discuss on my areas of knowledge (AOK) that is human sciences and politics, and the work of knowledge that is reason that will be focussed in understanding my area of knowledge.
Claim- In politics, the leaders and politicians use language to communicate their vision to the public. The leaders deploy rhetoric, allegory, alliteration and metaphor to entrench their management and move a step closer to towards their potential voters. The explanation pertaining to this aspect of the language is that on translation language produce different meanings (Geis: 45-67). Example- The US and its allies namely France and Britain used chemical weapons of war on Syria against the civilians who were situated outside the Damascus. This catastrophe killed more than 42 civilians in the country. President Donald Trump of USA was of the opinion that he is ready to bear the consequences of the resistance of the autocratic Syrian regime. The President further asserted that it is ready to cooperate with the Syrian government in case they want to prohibit the chemical agents. However, initially US decided that it is a risky proposition to ceasefire on Syria as it does have the chance of deepening the conflict. There is a continuous pressure on the major powers of the world to decide on their decision regarding taking action in Syria (Wiley: 87-96).
Counter claim-Language cannot be the reason for engaging in unjustified action and provoking violence. In the world of politics, it has been found that miscommunication has often become a source of unreasonable action and for the perpetration of violence. Even if there is miscommunication or there have been situations when the sentiments of the political leaders have been hurt there needs be an effort to find ways to amend the mistake rather than engaging in unreasonable action (Sheth: 34-65). Example- On April 24, the airspace monitoring in Russia detected a small-sized group off unidentified air targets that was approaching the base. It was found that the targets were destroyed and the casualties suffered no damage. The Violations Documentation Center (VDC) that is a Syrian opposition have found that there ahs been alleged violations of the international system of law in Syria (Taylor: 78-80). As a result of which Russia was forced to engage in chemical attack as it found the Syrian government’s policy to be infringing on the basic rights of humanity. Russia justified the action of bombing Russia by stating that the action was meant to avert the threat of war that is looming large in Syria. Russia contended that it had to completely rely for the action, as the countries did no seem much bothered by the plight Syria.
Claims- It has been found that it politics language used for articulating the perspectives of a person. Language could be the reason for creating confusion (May: 56-59). Explanation- Language is the way we are communicating and our language comprises of data regarding what we mean. It has been found that both the democrats and republics have simplified their language. These days they are deploying less complex sentences in their speeches compared to the previous generation. An analysis on this has shown that the voters of one party respond negatively to candidates who engage in using complex sentences. It has been found that the voters of the other party are veering towards language that is more complex. This result was found through the study conducted by Grammarley a tool that deploys algorithm to examine the grammatical errors and plagiarism. Example- in Italy, the citizens raised anti-fascist slogans against the present Italian government that is being labelled as fascist and racist. However, this resistance was met with extreme police atrocity to silence their voices (Orwell: 87). In this case, it can be observed that although the protestors had good intentions, however their body language and the act of gathering outside in large mob threatened the establishment and motivated them to resort to violence.
Counter claim- The counter claim regarding this would be language should not be used as a valid reason for being confused and language should be accompanied by appropriate action that would be effective in communicating the intention and perspective of the language to the receptors (Tilly: 71-81). Explanation- It is true that language can cause ambiguity and create confusion, therefore, the appropriate goal would be to eliminate vagueness in language by devising actions that would support the language, facilitates its clarity and enable in establishing the true meaning of the statement. Example- Iran has been a non-nuclear weapon state party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) since the year 1970. It has advanced its nuclear program in accordance to the international sanctions and negotiations until its implementation for the comprehensive nuclear deal that commenced in the year 2016 (Jundi: 351). Research has shown that Iran posses a space launch possibility and has been successful in launching a series of satellites namely Safir and space launch vehicle but it does not have the capability of launching a missile. From this illustration, it can be stated that Iran is firm on its stand on nuclear weapon that they have communicated on the international platform and at the same time, they have proved through their action.
The idea that knowledge is universal and is interpreted by everyone in the same manner is an illusion. It can be seen that interpretation of knowledge is based on the different factors. It is usually evidence that enables in forming the meaning of language and in deciding what to believe and what not to believe. Knowledge is perceived through our senses and this is followed by the formation of the perspectives. The process of perception is quite complex. The manner in which an individual will experience the world based on lifeworlds. Knowledge is not perceived in passive manner but individuals receive information through the senses. The way an individual is to understand the process of perception and the way it should impact our understanding of the world in which we live is crucial for the epistemology.
The different lifeworlds of an individual plays an important role in the understanding and transmission of knowledge. People have access to different facts and knowledge but there will emerge misunderstanding based on the interpretation. This usually arises due to the linguistic barrier as individuals have different modes of communication and these render them different kinds of privileges to words depending on the context. In the context of politics there are some words that gives positive impact to the individual and then there are words that may lead to negative implications based on the receptor and their cultural context.
Therefore, it can be stated that language can have different implications based on the context. It is important to understand the power of the language and communicate in a proper way so that there is no confusion. Confusion of language in the world of politics can lead to violence and massacre. Therefore, reason should be applied in communication and assessing its consequences.
