How do you ensure you have the right number of resources for the project?
By creating a structured breakdown of work to determine the number of resources that would be needed for the project. Resource planning is vital for any organization as the project would face serious drawbacks in the event of lack of critical resources.Kerzner, H., & Kerzner, H. R. (2017). How do you ensure your project team have the correct skills and knowledge to do their job?
By creating a well-developed screening method and interview strategy for selecting prospective candidates.
Companies generally hire internally to fill up the positions. However, I have seen in case of lack of personnel for any critical position in the project team, they start hiring externally.
How do you manage scope change and ensure there is no scope creep?
- By using a definite set of project management methodologies.
- Ensuring properly structured deliverables.
- Ensuring to understand what the client needs.
The scope of the project should remain unchanged throughout the project duration. In the event of a scope change, it must be verified and documented. Pinto, J. K. (2015). Project management: achieving competitive advantage. Prentice Hall.
Why do changes happen in a project?
- The project objectives are not met.
- The requirements of the client are not met.
- Lack of a contingency plan to handle any adverse incidents.
Several changes were experienced when the scope of the project was vague and thus the client did not understand the deliverables. During such events, the client requests frequent changes to the project.
Have you ever in your personal life experienced the need for change? How do you handle this? What did you do?
Yes, I desired a change in my life as I wanted to increase my efficiency of work.
To accomplish this, I put a self-limit on my access to my smartphone and the social media. By doing this, I was able to spend more time on my work rather than on my phone.
