The major criteria for selecting the project for my assessment is analysis of cost benefit ratio and the payback period of the project. The net present value of the project and the rate of return are further considered while selecting the project. This is the part of checking the feasibility of the project, which is essential before selecting a project. Apart from this, the enterprise environmental factor and its impact on the project are analyzed properly before undertaking the project. The benefit measurement method is further considered for evaluating the economic viability and technical feasibility of the project.
Management of global project is an intensive task that requires proper evaluation of the changes for which a change management plan is implemented. In order to properly manage a global project, I at first developed a project management plan in order to eliminate the problem of communication gap among the team members and the organization. One of the important methods of managing change is identifying and critical job roles of the project team members and their contribution to the team. It is a systemic application of knowledge that helps in managing a project in case a change in scope of the project is needed to be addressed.
Enterprise environmental factors are those factors that are not in immediate control of the project team. As a project manager, I should consider this factor from the start of the project as it considerably influences the project. Identifying the enterprise environmental factor at the beginning of the project is essential for managing the impact of these factors on global projects. These factors are considered in order to properly design the project in such a way that it is able to mitigate the threats or risk that a project might face while its implementation.
I have understood the process of project management and gained a practical knowledge of managing the project. I have understood the need of schedule and cost management in the project. The methods applied in the project should ensure proper safety in project implementation. I have understood the need of selecting a proper project methodology in implementing global project. The identification and use of proper tools and techniques in managing the project is essential for ensuring that the project is properly implemented. I have understood the importance of different knowledge areas of the project management.
One of the essential skills that are required for managing a global project is having a proper leadership skill. As a project manager, it was my responsibility to manage and ensure an effective teamwork and therefore leadership is an important skill that is required for management of the global projects. A good communication skill further helped me in managing such projects. I have learnt the importance and necessity of time management for implementing a global project. Furthermore, a proper negotiation skill is important for managing a project in a global context. Identifying and managing the risk of the project is another necessary need for management of global projects.
Learning plays an important role in professional development. Learning has helped me in gaining adequate knowledge about the subject that has further helped me in applying that knowledge in the practical field. The details about the tools and techniques I have applied in the project are obtained from the studies I have achieved. Learning has considerably helped in understanding the importance of teamwork, which was essential for managing a project in a global context. The prior learning has therefore helped me in contributing effectively to the team performance.
I consider my role in field of project management to be that of a project manager. A project manager is a major figure of any project as he is responsible for managing the entire project work. He is responsible for developing a proper project plan, execution of the project, project monitoring and control. Furthermore, the contribution of the project manager to the team is huge as the project manager has a large influence in the team. Project manager is a major decision maker of the project and therefore, I believe that my role is that of a project manager in the field of project management.
