The importance of project management is rapidly increasing as the principles project management help project as the guiding force that supports successful completion of the project. However, to implement the principles of the project management in the real project, the project team may face various difficulties as the real situation may vary with the academic theories and principles. For instance, the time management which is part of project management can be taken, and it provides immense pressure on the project team to carry out the project practically. It is evident that because of excessive time pressure the efficiency of the workers reduced reasonably (Campbell, 2014). Hence, the quality of the end product has been differed and reduced from the desired one. Therefore, completely rely on the project management principle to conduct a project is not a very wise decision, the project manager has to verify the real project need and the situation to apply the bookish theories.
The situation of the “Time Pressure” is undertaken in this description which is depicted to be aiming at the negative consequences of the objectives. When the pressure is being created by an individual, then it is depicted to be hampering the time. The time pressure is defined as elements in the project management which are being faced by all the managers, teams and the other members who are involved in the project. This is a negative consequence which cannot be recovered by using all their strengths and also the inappropriate involvement of the work is being made by showing the strength provided for the completion of the work is depicted to be in vain (Heerkens, 2015). The loops are reflected with the showing time for the documentation, and the exchanges of the information are identified to be showing a negative impact with showing the scarcity of the resources. Therefore the skipping of the information and also the scarcity of the resources is identified to be creating an impact which is showing the achievement of the goals in an inappropriate way. Thus the delays of the materials and the inappropriate management of the project results in the time pressure and also the situation is depicted to be showing an imbalance in the project management situation.
As per the situation is described in the case of the project management, the Pickle Jar Theory is the best theory which can be easily linked to being situation as described above. The Pickle Jar theory describes the time management solutions which are depicted to be simple and also it works in the project management with showing the appropriate implementation. It enables the managers and the teams to manage their time in an appropriate way by scheduling their work by the period (Lientz, 2011). Therefore the management of the project can be easily made without failing to meet the deadline of the provided project. The strategy provided by this theory enables the project managers and the teams to complete their work which is being made in an appropriate way. This simply shows the completion of the work in an appropriate way by showing the fulfillment of the gaps that are raised in this project. As per the situation is undertaken in the description, this theory is seemed to justifying the situations against which the theory is being implemented, and also it enables to have an appropriate environment for the project (Lock, 2013).
The completion of the project on time was a great challenge for me and for that I implemented strategies to accomplish the project. The team members were allocated with specified jobs and motivated towards their goals. The most important thing was that I engaged myself in different tasks and solved the issued that were faced by the team members. The goals were set, and it was clearly communicated to my team members. I had allocated funds and resources as per the requirement for achieving the goals. I was in the situation that I had to put some pressure on my team members (Maltzman and Shirley, 2011). The first thing that I carried out was planning and appropriate allocation of the resources. I established the checkpoints to examine whether the project is carried out on the given schedule. I had also implemented other strategies to deal with other circumstances such as natural calamities and internal conflicts. It was a challenge for me to manage the entire situation as well as carrying out the activities as per the requirement. The errors were rectified and determined with different tools and techniques. The competition of project on time creates a mental pressure which is difficult to deal with (Maylor, 2010).
The experience improved by skills, knowledge, and capabilities. The most important thing that I learned was how to work in pressure time as well as manage all the processes. The experience enhanced my confidence level, and my team members were very satisfied with the completion of the project on time. I learned that negative experience gives us a good lesson of how to cope up with the situations. In a project, the most important thing is the allocation of the resources in an appropriate manner and management of all the team members (Patel, 2008). The team members were motivated which was also very much important, and the goals were clearly defined to them. The schedule was set, and it was strictly defined that no deadlines should be missed out. It helped me to become a good leader and also enhanced my leader skills and knowledge.
The project management is one of the most important aspects of the organizations as the organizations use to venture several projects to gain efficiency and to improve the productivity and profitability of the organization. However, to conduct a project completely surrenders to the bookish theories and principles of the project management are not a wise decision for the project team, especially the project manager (Verzuh, 2003). The project manager has to look after the entire aspects of the undertaken project and as per the need and features the project management principles should be applied. Appropriate selection and utilization of the project management principles support the team in providing desirable outcome from the project.
