(1) Factors that affect college student ability to sleep are:
- Over-consumption of caffeine
- Lower GPA
- Impaired Mood
- Missed Lecture Recovery
- Excessive online surfing (Mosley, 2017)
(2) My sleep is personally affected due to excessive online surfing, studying to attain higher GPA and excessive intake of caffeine. These are the factors that stop me from attaining sound sleep.
- Strategies that I can use to attain optimum sleep hygiene are discussed below:
- Developing the habit of daytime naps of 30 minutes
- Avoiding excessive intake of caffeine
- Eating healthy food and ensuring adequate amount of natural light exposure
(3) Low education level, stress of attain good GPA and depression can be regarded as a lifestyle factor that interfere with a person’s REM sleep.
(4) Complex changes in behaviour followed by daytime dizziness and clumsiness are the post impact of REM sleep. Sudden weight gain or weight loss can also be seen as a side effect (Owens, Wang, Baylor, Skora, & Lewin, 2015).
