Discuss about the Reflective Practice In Healthcare.
Reflective practice refers to the way that facilitates the process of studying self experiences, with the aim of improving the way by which an individual works. The practice is integral to the scope of practice of healthcare professionals, who are involved in conducting or participating in a life-long learning process, throughout their lives (Tsingos, Bosnic-Anticevich and Smith 2014). Thus, this act of reflection helps in increasing confidence and assists the concerned individuals to become qualified and proactive professionals.
The discussion was appropriate in pointing out the fact that it is difficult to measure or quantify the value of reflective practice. However, the studies that have characterized the variables encompassed by the learning process were successful in developing or formulating models that improved the performance and clinical skills of the healthcare professionals (Fragkos 2016). The discussion is correct in elaborating about the importance of the systematic review that illustrated the role of effective practice in helping students to think and act in a professional way, which in turn is imperative for their study course. Moreover, the discussion also accurately identified the gradual reduction in reflective practice, over the years. Most healthcare practitioner generally engage in reflective practice, with the aim of gaining a sound understanding of the perceptions, motives, values, attitudes, and feelings that are associated with client care (Husebø, O'Regan and Nestel 2015). However, an enhancement in their clinical expertise and experience, over the years reduces their intent to learn from new clinical experiences.
Thus, the discussion was accurate in recognizing the role of reflective practice in enhancing career progression in the field of health care. Such practices greatly improve the skills as healthcare providers.
