There is some difference in my personality regarding professional profile and employability skills. The variance is quite considerable because I learned skills in all the GLOSs all together with their use in the current global matters. The employability skills have attributes and aspects which are referenced to the GLO's. Since I have got some experience in the information technology field, I have gained the required skills which are vital in this field. This is due to the hard work and more effort that I put into helping myself together with this unit. This portfolio thus is key in ensuring I acquire skills more vital in career advancements.
GLO1 Discipline, knowledge, and capabilities
The character traits are vital in ensuring the goals and objectives of group work is successful. I witnessed this especially during the conduct of our group. The members were very disciple and maintained knowledge(Saroyan and Trigwell, 2015, pp.92-101).. This improves the concentration towards putting more efforts in the realization of the set goals.
The development of success attributed by discipline has enabled me to acknowledge the fact that it is vital as it upholds the knowledge and capacitance that is available in the institution. What I learned from my experiences is that adhering to the topmost discipline levels is crucial in ensuring that the goals and objectives of an institution are achieved
Professionally, I am keen on providing that I get through the ranks of being a manager of one of the best departments in the institution. However for me to achieve this, I must ensure discipline levels are on the highest standards in my professional profile. The discipline should cut across the border, i.e., colleagues and customers altogether.
GLO2 Communication skills
The sense of being fluent in communication and the transmission of data and information is critical in all the life activities (Sridharan, Leitich and Watty, pp.171-188). I witnessed this being highlighted severally in the semester by my tutor. This is because communication is vital in ensuring that all business and social events are transacted effectively since the transcoding of the data is vital in ensuring that the activities are a success. The first assignment in the semester prepare me psychologically in that I can organize strangers of diverse dimensions to come out with the desired data as it one of the challenging elements where the strangers are forced to come up with the required data.
In the first assignment, we scored 100% on our grades. This is attributed to our active and significant communication process and plans that had been initiated by our team. The reliability nature of our communication plan made it essential for such success. This s because staff K who came from our group came up with an efficient SharePoint group and an email list which gave the members an easy time in the communication and the sharing of the data that is in platforms shared (Sridharan, Leitch, and Watty, 2015, pp.171-188.
Our assignment was very excellent due to the addition of the unit chair whose central role in the team was to critically show the evidence of the task. This served as the essentiality of ensuring that the efforts of the team are acknowledged and recognized. The process implemented by the team thus enabled the team to significantly look into the emerging issue and ensure that tasks are allocated accordingly to ensure that quality data and information is produced on a timely basis.
Our team utilized the available time allocated by the institution in the enforcement efficiency in the communication plan adopted. However, the fact is that we are all cloud students due to the improved internet systems which pushed the team into the development of content in a significant and effective manner(Saroyan and Trigwell, 2015, pp.92-101).. The institution and very helpful provided the technological equipment used by the team. Moreover, the subsequent assignment had a very urgent and more committing deadline. However, the work was duly completed within one week. This is because of the active communication plan and process used by the team. This is attributed to the capacitance and abilities capacitated to my fellow team members as the communication process and procedures are summarized as below:
- Maintaining a standard communication process that is used all over the team. An effective and vital team organ was forwarded for this activity thus saving a lot of time in the communication process.
- Ensuring timely responses. There is minimal time wastage due to the time scheduling is done in the communication process. Every party played his part actively and in a focused manner in that there were no instances of time wastages in the teamwork. There was efficiency in the coordination of the communication process.
- There was the discipline of the highest levels due to the maintenance of the communication plan and the processes. There lacked other forms of communication such as direct calls directed for discussion in that messaging mediums including Skype were not even needed in the communication process. This ensured that the team members acknowledge what is happening due to the level of discipline being maintained.
There is positivity in the way things tend to occur in the semester. The assignment has the experience being gained by the teammates that things are done excellently. A finalized and full report on the emails and the calls made to the teammates was detrimental for the personal and the group benefits. This ensured that all the teamwork mates participated in one way or the other in the enhancement of the team engagement.
The members of the group not attending the assignment to participate in the task made the members to actively ensure that the other members of the team do not leave anyone behind. This ensured that the effective and significant trait of the process of communication is developed. This provided that the question was maintained. This facilitated the team members to easily catch up with the rest of the team and make the relevant assistance in the contributions to the assignment. A less developed and maintained communication meant a disaster in the assignments. This being the third year of the student in Deakin, the tools used in the former in that applied tools which were generated by the institution. The tool set that was being used in some groups, I.e., the Facebook messenger and the drop box. However, these tool sets also become awkward and troublesome in its use.
My homework currently is a take away from within the process or plan is maintained effectively in that even if the team of members uses it for deliverance is very strong and efficient.
There is less likeability of the channel in the missing communication properly since there are no short cuts in the communication that was needed.
I emphasis on the lessons and experiences which were integrated into SIT223 which will be offered in the next times of the future times in the study units which are still in progress. The benefits of the communication process being effective and significant is essential for the recording f the email, and thus the record of the assignment is not maintained(Saroyan and Trigwell, 2015, pp.92-101).
GLO4 Critical thinking
Am not only a student but also got a part-time job. This description needs one to be more reasonable in decision making. This calls for more and technical critical and creative way of thinking to come up with the most efficient decisions which will not hunt the goals set to be achieved. I learned during the learning outcome that it is key to always be sober in mind while making decisions.
The aspect and composure of the group during the learning outcome was a nice job. I t involved sober decisions being made with all the members even though both of us are cloud students and only communicated through the internet(Saroyan and Trigwell, 2015, pp.92-101). Also, we all concentrated on ensuring that the goals we set are achieved on a timely basis.
I appreciate the learning experience taught me how to effectively make critical decisions without interfering with another person’s prospect. This is practical in the filed more one to raise the professional profile. Critical thinking iv prudent in the information technology framework. Critical thinking has thus proven to work in the enhancement of the profile in the working situations.
GLO6 Self-management skills
I am an effective and more concerned part-time Cloud student. I have my job at a technical firm. I got a family. Moreover, currently, my wife and I are in final arrangements for setting up a personal business which will be run by my wife as she is at home while I engage in other activities of the day. Since I operate from Melbourne, My job description involves the broad jurisdiction of the Asia Pacific. I also have global duties in various global groups which are common in information technology. Thus by this, I need to attend the calls and be present during all the conferences at any time be it the day of night.
Among my diverse roles, I also travel within APAC. Thus owing to all thee engagements, I have to be very keen on time management. With time, everything is usually done in order without any mistakes as time relieves all the errors that might occur during the conducting of activities by the group. However, my biggest worries came in the week four questionnaire which was assigned to us; I only managed to attain 26 marks out of 50. This questionnaire on time management pointed to me that actually my studies are full of stress, and I will never get with the studies unless I embark on the matter ensuring that I consider the steps of time management effectively so as to make my studies more satisfying and pleasing to any characters in the team and from the outside world (Saroyan and Trigwell, 2015, pp.92-101).
This GLO6 is a very important interest to me. This is due to the nature of things rolling out. The study, the development of the assignment and the load of the exams of the two units in the semester, there is the great amount of work to done in a very short time. I also have a family to take care of. I have to spend time with the family to strengthen the family bonds existing. The job description of my nature is way above demanding due to the numerous follow-ups and activities involved out of office work(Sridharan, Leitich and Watty, pp.171-188)..
Regarding the outcome of the questionnaire on time management where I only obtained 26 marks out of 5o marks means that this GLO6 is detrimental to me. In the week four, we introduced into certain strategies aimed at the enabling of stress management and stress relieving. This approach is known as the 4-D strategy of DE commitment, deferment and delegation were crucial in the double lie as a worker and a student in the university. However what I lacked was the necessary systematic theory of the prescribed strategy. The 4-D approach has thus enabled me to acquire a more integrated and useful system in the consideration of de-commitment, deferment and the deferring of an arriving task.
I am very thankful and happy for being introduced into this simple, easy to apply, manageable approach. Ever since the 4-D was simply incorporated into me, I have been using it more often and practically in the essence of assisting me to address my commitments both in the professional life and in the university life. However, this system has proven to be working very well in the recent past. The 4-D time management framework is very vital in the end.
GLO7 Team Work
There was a formation of cloud group of students who carefully and address assignment 1 in the same way; assignment three is being handled. The primary objective of the team is completing the tasks on time. I was as happy that the team normalized on time and in a manner worth recommendation (Saroyan and Trigwell, 2015, pp.92-101).We our very active thus the 100% grade that we achieved. However their one no specific choice of the team leader. However, one member, person T assumed the role of the team leader due to his skills as showcased in the discussions. The primary purpose of the team leader is to provide all the necessary templates in PowerPoint form which involved the issuance of directions on how to apply n and implement the technology required in the completion of the assignment. I keenly observed that the team has numerous positive traits during the conducting of the team activities in the discussions.
Each member of the team had a significant role to play in the conduct of the team. We all earned respect among ourselves as per the production input by all of us in the organization. We enjoyed working together, and the completion of tasks was done in an effective and significant manner. However, there was also negativity in the team during the conduct. This is majorly due to one team member who did the assignment very well and on a timely basis because the communication process by the team as discussed was vital in ensuring assignment development. He was in a hard situation thus could not make the group calls or text messaging. This is due to particular work and individual unavoidable factors. The person was in apposition to go in the direction of the team (Saroyan and Trigwell, 2015. Pp.92-101).
The other negativity which was evident was the sense of diversity in the team was almost impossible. This is because nearly all the members were cloud students who operated on the internet. Thus the students resided almost in the same time zone.
The elements and prospects of the team all over the conduct was a nice experience. Even though I have not met the team members in person, there is so much respect cultivated amongst ourselves. This was due to all our common objectives being the completion of the assignment and achieving the goals of the team. Friendship is very strong among us in the team despite being far from one another.
Reasons for the team work to succeed
I am very sure that the reasons for our effectiveness include;
- Equal contribution by each with the essence of achieving the team goals and objectives which is the assignment development.
- The team showed good value during the meetings. The flexible nature of the team made it align up with the timing. The meetings which were organized were done in a more effective way and pleasing.
- It is without the doubt that our communication approach which we developed and enhanced in the team was very useful. My learning outcomes from the GLO7 prospects of this trimester is that elaborative and meaningful communications usually promote more advanced team coordination and team schedules. This is key in the sharing of ideas in the team among the members. This also facilitated a more adaptive and flexible program which promoted more interactions and collaborations among the team members. This means that there was no significant impact if at all there were some members of the team who could not contribute to anything during the process.
I will take part in several other groups works in the course of my studies. I have more units which have numerous group works. Of importantly, being active in a team towards achieving the goals and objectives of the organization is a very detrimental issue in my workplace. Thus the necessary skills which tend to develop me regarding my team operations and contribution are very welcoming and vital. In the unit, I was lucky to use the reflective approach in the team as I was one of the most direct members in the group. The method enabled me to observe and recommend the effectiveness of the team in its setting. However, of all the reasons the most important factor towards the success and active nature of the team is the accrued communication approach which was developed throughout the learning procedure (Sridharan, Leitich and Watty, pp.171-188). Thus I will be solely responsible for the promotion and enhancement of the communications strategy which is among the best and more implementable in the setting of a group in any future engagements.
GLO8 Global Citizenship
According to Deakin University, global citizenship is described as a way of thinking practically and responding back to the socio-cultural elements. Accruing to my past experiences and my professional c.v, I have happened to visit several countries, and thus I understand some of these cultures. In all the companies that deal with information technology which I have worked with very well, I have been solely responsible in ensuring that I interact freely with diverse colleagues and customers all over despite their stance in the information technology sector(Sridharan, Leitich and Watty, pp.171-188).
I have frequently been trying to knowledgeable to other cultures present in the globe. This is attributed to my association with various individuals from different cultures. This has made me have the feeling and attitude that I can now deliver the requirements which are in order. However, I found out from this unit that I conduct my responsibility in the following manner.
- Showing of enthusiasm and the curiosity for a broad scope and understanding of various perspectives of the cultural matters and upcoming issues.
- Developing a thankful model of the crucial nature of including of the parties in the collaboration with other participant in a manner that is more engaging and active. This should be very positive in the group.
- Acknowledging the limitations in the including of all the participants and coming up with the best plans of countering this. As a senior official who works all over regardless of the jurisdiction, there is a need to appreciate me for being able to work with various cultures all over the globe.
The understanding of the various situations, rules, and the necessary ethic enabled me to be key personnel in ensuring that I weigh both sides of the story. There are usually reasons for something to occur. This thus means that even the dilemmas in various situations have reasons. With the help of critical and creative thinking, I have some guidelines in dilemma solving. What I learned from my learning outcomes is that patience is essential especially when dealing with interlinked cultures and language differences. Thus the ACS code of professional conduct is vital in such situations.
Professionally, I am focused on the development of my career in that I get assigned the responsibility of ensuring that the technical specialists across the wider Asia Pacific. However, to achieve this objective and dream, I have to ensure that my professional profile is lifted up in line with the customers and fellow staff. This is not achievable until I allocate time properly to raise my LinkedIn in the raising of my professional profile in the Asia Pacific and all over the globe.
