Slum upgrading projects in South America have two main features to upgrade the Southern Hemisphere development from North America's project. The main two characteristics of the features were 1. Self- resilience and 2. Self-reliance.

Agriculture takes the initiative to change the community, and they started to get involved in raising a collective garden, which has a positive impact on raising real estate, and this also increased the security of the community as they started to communicate with each other. Urban agriculture, which was emphasized on food nutrition and security, vertical agriculture of that place and increasing the percentages of food production of that area changed the way and the behaviour of the communities which were existed in Southern Hemisphere.
There were some challenges that came in the way of making the mansion. One of the major challenges for Maison Produktif was to secure finance for the completion of the house. Initially, funding was on a good track, but after the financial crisis which occurred in the year 2008, the completion was totally at risk. Lacking the right construction team created tension as he tried to make advanced green architecture. So, this struggle to find out the proper team indeed was a challenging phase. And also, lacking the support to present his idea for promotion was initially a challenge for him as many people did not believe in the construction plan. This general disbelief was socially driven and was started due to traditional suspicion.
Social entrepreneurship can be defined as individuals with innovative and creative ideas to solve society's problems. Individuals are motivated and ambitious and deal with major issues to offer new and larger ideas for a change. Instead of leaving the issues on governments to solve, the social entrepreneurs take the initiative to solve the issues creatively by changing the system. Entrepreneurship can be divided into value-driven and profit-driven. Social entrepreneurs are basically value-driven individuals. And profit-driven entrepreneurs are the individuals who are motivated to income more. They are encouraged and driven towards this aspect so that they can make money through their business initiatives. Thus, value-driven and profit-driven entrepreneurs have differences in their approaches.
Kongshaug decided to become an entrepreneur as he thought that there was a way to connect with society and by intervening in human nature. The entrepreneur can help to change the person's monetary situation and can help to increase the status or position of the person. This approach was to cover the three attributes, which are money, status and conscience. He acknowledged and was motivated to contribute to sustainable development, although he was inspired by its profitable benefits and production. Thus, this can be said that Kongshaug was the person or the entrepreneur who was motivated by the value-driven initiative to start and to establish his idea of entrepreneurship.
The main selling and promoting strategy for the Maison Produktif was brand and a proper package. The package was the main and primary strategy that was used. The strategy was that Maison Produktif has a green advanced architectural lifestyle which consists of complete ready to use products which has LEED Platinum certification. LEED is Leadership Energy and Environmental Design which is a rating system that was identified as the mark of excellence for building advanced green buildings in over 132 countries internationally. Also, another attractive strategy was sustainability which offers water efficiency, energy consumption and good atmosphere, innovative design, quality resources and a good environment. Based on these criteria, this building was certified as one of the best and became the unique selling point.
The selling process for the Maison Produktif was a challenge because after the promotion also, there was not a single sale. And after that, hosting their own sale event produce the first sale of their unit. Lack of money in order to complete the project became the challenge for selling the units. The promotion of the project was not particular, which had the impact for which they had to sell one more plan at a much lower price.
Measurement of the consumption of energy and water was important for the Maison Produktif for building management. The main purpose of measuring and controlling the system was to provide information on the consumption of energy and water to the tenants and how much they were consuming. There were almost 250 points for measuring the consumption around the building, which helped to manage, measure and also control; their usage. This measurement could help to know the production and consumption and can be built an idea to create develop and modified building with ecological usage. For taking the counts and to create a better design for future ecological usage and advanced green building, this measurement of the variables was necessary.
The main goal and plan for growth and to develop the Maison Produktif Kongshaug have developed innovative ways of managing the ecological buildings.
