The article Health Inequalities, Deprivation, Immigration and Aboriginality in Canada: A Geographic Perspective signifies the status of the human beings in different parts of Canada. The study mostly explores the recognizable contribution of the immigration, deprivation, and aboriginal status in the different geographical location in Canada. The hypothetical analysis would be presented in this article signifying the results related to the effects of the different magnitudes in surviving the deprivation. The study would represent the argument related to the analytical report based on the contribution of immigration, deprivation, and aboriginal inequalities in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.
It has been observed that the social inequality related to health perspectives is one of the most common concerns in Canada. The country has not only prioritized its native citizens but has provided opportunities to immigrants or people from other countries as well (Picot and Sweetman, 2012). The natural atmosphere of Canada has created the significant influence on the immigrants that made them the permanent citizen in the country. However, inequality can be noticed in the social, economical and health factors. In some of the parts of the country, the aboriginal citizens of the country can be found leading a lifestyle that is lower in standard than the immigrants are (Wilson and Cardwell, 2012). Surveys based on different areas lived by both naïve and immigrant citizens discloses that, the inequality is getting lesser, however the fact is, inequality has not been finished yet.
Deprivation and inequality are something that both the aboriginal citizens of Canada and the immigrants have come across. According to the records, approximately 250,000 people from other countries came to Canada since the 90’s, and eventually settled in the place (Paquet, 2014). These immigrants settled mainly in the prominent cities of the country such as Vancouver, Montreal and Canada. At the initial stage of their living, the immigrants did not get ideal condition for living, rather found depending on lower earnings than the native citizens of the country did. However, the immigration did not stop at the period of 90’s. The recent past shows that the new immigrants lead a better life in regards to both health and wealth than the actual citizens of Canada.
The article is a well constructed and it has documented the practical situation regarding the different socio economic status of both native and immigrant citizens of Canada. Knowles (2016) argued that immigrants usually face several difficulties during their first arrival in Canada. The natural culture in the country is quite new to these immigrants due to which they need to be adaptive enough for the survival. However, the people who immigrated in the country later did get betterment in both their professional and personal lives. It has happened due to the globalization and overall improvement of other countries’ lifestyle.
The aboriginal or native citizens of Canada, coming across inequality in social, economical and health factor, are living in the country in spite of the differences. The census reports discussed in the article also supports the uneven ratio of mortality and number of immigrants. The article also shows that the immigrants have the scope for the betterment of their lives for living permanently in Canada. It marked the inequality in multiple aspects of the aboriginals, especially of those who live in the countryside. In this regard, Parkins and Reed (2012) implied that the inequality faced by the aboriginal people living in the rural areas, is something that can never be denied.
However, in the big cities like Toronto and Montreal, the inequality of aboriginals in lower than the ones who live in the countryside. According to the report made by the royal commission, the government has started working in order to improve the overall lifestyle of the aboriginal people. In order to erase the huge difference between the immigrants and the aboriginals and to escalate the standard of lifestyle of the aboriginals, the federal as well as provincial governments are coming together to apply practical solutions (Ruddell and Lithopoulos, 2013).
The article includes the facts and different authentic reports to support the opinions regarding the inequalities atmosphere faced by the aboriginal people of Canada. It is obvious that, if a certain large group of people utilizes all the good opportunities of the large cities, then the people living in the outskirts and rural areas are bound to face the lack of opportunities and the inequalities in the socio-economic area along with health. The sociological detection obviously accepts the economic and health related discrepancy that has happened to the native citizens if Canada.
