Question:

Discuss About The Survey Of Information Security Risk Methods.

Answer:

Introduction

The Queenstown winter festival is a highly popular event in New Zealand which is celebrated every year in order to mark the start of winter. The mentioned event is timed approximately 2 weeks after the scheduled start of to the ski season and just before New Zealand and Australian school holidays in order to encourage visitors to visit Queensland and enjoy the mentioned event. After a highly successful 2017 winter event, the organizers of Queensland winter festival are looking forward to the 44th Queensland winter event (Aven, 2012).

The event of 2018, like every year, has last for 4 days and a good number of musicians and chefs will join the event to make it one of best events held in this year. One of the mention-worthy events that will be organized in the Queensland winter festival 2018 is the Matariki Torchlight Procession. The mentioned procession is an iconic one that takes place every year throughout the streets of Queensland and with people holding fire torches. The parade will end at Marine parade Queenstown where the parade participants will be greeted by the breathtaking welcoming ceremony, Pohiri and Wakahama.  Considering the fact that the Matariki torchlight procession involves fire torches and other equipment that have the potential to act as a risk, this report will involve the development of a risk assessment plan for the mentioned festival. In this report, the operation and management of the Matariki torch procession event 2018 will be discussed. Along with that, the risk analysis of the event and the regulation and legislation criteria associated with the mentioned event will be discussed in this report.

Event operation and management

The event is organized to greet the Wakahama and Powhar community to Queenstown bay and thus mark the start of the Queensland winter festival. The participants of the Matariki torch procession include both locals as well as international visitors. Along with the mentioned communities will be greeted by Kaumatua Michiel Skerrett and his wife Winsome along with the mayor of Queenstown lakes Jim Boult. Mountains of snow will be carried from Cardrona and dumped in the centre of Queenstown in order to allow 6 "Legends of Steel" snowboarders and skiers show off some of their best tricks. Along with that two teams who were the bronze medalist of Olympic, namely, Zoi Sadowski-Synnott and Nico Porteous along with the rookies will compete for a spot (Modarres, 2016).

Event planning

Like every year, the Matariki Torchlight procession will mark the beginning of the Queensland Festival. The festival has been planned just 2 weeks after the initiation of the ski season and before the schools of Australia and New Zealand declares their holidays. This is done to encourage both the local as well as international visitors to visit the event as well as the festival.

The Matariki torch procession will take place on 21st June 2018 at Earnslaw Park Queensland, New Zealand. The fire torch pickup will be between the time span from 4 pm to 4.30 pm.  In order to facilitate both local as well as international participants who have mobility issues and are unable to stand for a prolonged period of time or travel a long distance, a joint point closer towards the end of the procession route location at the top of Queenstown has been organized. In order to ensure the safety of the participants, the management has incorporated an emergency risk management team (Bratton & Gold, 2017).  A good number of food stalls with delicious food items will be organized at Queenstown bay, where the procession will end.

The budget plan for the event

In order to ensure that no monetary problem will need to be dealt with by the vent planners, a budget has been planned. The following table will demonstrate a budget that has been planned for the Matariki Torch Procession 2018.

Estimated Expense

Fire Torches for Participants

$ 500

Risk management

$ 15000

Portable toilets

$ 4000

Musical types of equipment

$ 5000

The decoration of the streets

$ 20000

Food Arrangement

$ 10000

Online and offline promotion

$ 20000

Total Expense

$ 54500

While the above-mentioned budget will help the organizers to gain a rough estimation of the event, the profit gained by organizing the event will depend on the number of tickets that will be sold. Thus a strong marketing plan has been developed by the management of the Matariki fire torch procession 2018.

Marketing of the Matariki fire torch procession 2018

Both online, as well as offline marketing, will be by the event organizers in order to attract the maximum numbers of international visitors. In the following paragraphs, the methods by which both online, as well as offline marketing of the event, has been conducted is discussed.

Offline events require physical interaction and attendance. Considering the fact that the chief goal of the event is allowing face-to-face relationship building and enhancing the relationship between communities (Masterman, 2014). The event planners have taken the help of several offline marketing strategies like road shows and campaigns. Since the Matariki festival is a highly popular event, the event planners have given priority to online marketing over offline marketing. Major offline marketing techniques that have been used by the event planners include promotion through popular social media platforms and official websites. Social media platforms have not only proved to be a highly cost-effective method to reach out to the international consumers but have also provided the event planners with a huge pool of target consumers who can be reached out within a very short range of time.

Risk analysis

In order to eradicate any kinds of risks, the management of the Matariki fire torch event has developed an efficient risk management plan that has the potential to prevent any types of the unwanted phenomenon during the time of planning, development and execution of the event.
