Workspace design has the tendency of increasing the level of productivity. The design of workspace being followed previously has been more crucial for ensuring that there is a connection between people and they are able to brainstorm with the co-workers of the organization. Having unique and agile design of workspace is important for the promotion of social areas, inspirational features and collaboration that results in fostering innovation. The real focus is the attempt for maximizing the productivity, performance and potentiality of humans.

In this context, this paper will be redesigning the workspace of Starbucks, such that it also results in fostering innovation.

 

Collaborative Spaces

Introduction of new ways in the performance of work will result in promotion of collaboration in innovation. The organization of Starbucks has been showing willingness for innovation, but not all seem to create understanding regarding the relevance of collaboration in order to increase the possibility of innovation. The organization did not end up hobbling across the old and previous concepts of collaborating that would have resulted in slowing down the rate of success. This will result in improving the overall productivity of the organization, by the contribution of each and every member of the organization.

With the evolution of collaboration, it has been becoming more fluid in nature making a move towards public conversations from private conversations that is to shared blogs, wikis, and bookmarks; from instant messaging, e-mails, and telephones. In the redesigning of workspace fostering innovation, it is important to treat the tools of collaboration as a virtual office, where others are able to visit and input can be added to the knowledge of a person. Day spas and lap pool may not be within the budget limit for a number of small organization, but still there are a number of innovative ideas that can contribute in fostering innovation and creativity in the organization.

 

Social Areas

Innovation in social areas within the workplace helps in the application of combined and new intervention within the organization of work, management of human resources and systems of support. The organization of Starbucks had acknowledged the fact that the work spaces that are highly advanced are the ones innovating the most. Hence, it is also important to keep check on the level of productivity and satisfaction of job being at the highest point[1].

The main streaming of work space innovation must be done in the entire organization, across all of the employees and employers, policies of Research and Development, and health and safety. This will result in improving the overall productivity of the organization, by the contribution of each and every member of the organization. This is important for ensuring that policies are reinforced with each other, instead of blocking the new forms of workspace organization[2]. There are three main traits that can be shared in adapting towards change. These are as follows: the ability of predicting the future needs for skills, locating the experts and collaborating in the entire social area of the organization. In the duration of boom, when the market of job had been flushing with opportunities, but there was shortage of qualified candidates, the organization of Starbucks had started concentrating on the work spaces and perks keeping and retaining the employees by keeping them happy and winning the new ones. The employers that contribute in fostering innovation, rewarding and engaging work space by understanding the intrinsic importance to retain a work force that is well trained, familiar with the culture of the company and the loyalty towards the achievement of its mission. Irrespective of the vagaries in the market of job, innovation always contributes in the attraction of the best minds and challenging the average employees for becoming great. This will result in improving the overall productivity of the organization, by the contribution of each and every member of the organization.
