A mobile application is capable helping a business to increase their audience base, brand popularity, sales, revenue generation, and to find multiple growth opportunities and generate hefty revenues. Identifying the users of a given mobile application and understanding their abilities and expectations is central to both designing and evaluating a mobile application.  In this assignment you will be asked to perform a contextual analysis of users and their tasks for a specific mobile application of your choice. Then, you need to develop a brief evaluation plan that could be implemented to evaluate the application’s usability. You are also required to develop a prototype that reflects your ideas of the mobile application user interface design.  There are TWO (2) main tasks for this assignment.   

Task 1 – Contextual Analysis

 This task involves understanding the range of users and activities they can engage in on your chosen mobile application. Successful mobile applications are designed to fit the user’s expectations, and do not attempt to make the users fit the application.  Subsequently, it is crucial that the users of a mobile application are identified in terms of their experience and abilities, and the tasks that can be performed on the specific application.

 Your task is therefore to analyse the context of use for a mobile application of your choice.  In order to complete this analysis, you should endeavour to answer the following questions. However, it is important that you do not simply list responses.  Your responses should be supported by justification(s).

 • Who are the intended users of the application?

• What is their level of expertise?  

• Why will they use the application?

• What tasks can users do on the application? Is the functionality greater, equal or less than what the users want to do?  

• Are there any technical considerations?  

• From your first impressions, write down what first comes to mind as to what is good and bad about the interface design of the application.
