Objective

The main objective of this assessment is to evaluate potential and limitations of Renewable Energy technologies for energy production and their environmental impacts. Throughout this assessment, students will be able to evaluate the application of solar, wind, tidal, wave, geothermal, and biomass at a local level taking into consideration cost-effective energy, environmental impacts, and the need for diversification.

Learning Outcomes

As per the module descriptor, this assessment covers part of the following learning outcome: “Evaluate technologies for energy production in terms of interactions and differences between them, and defend the need for diversification”

Task

You are requested to complete the following tasks:

1. Each student is requested to choose two renewable energy resources that interesthim/her, and evaluate their energy technologies focusing on energy production (capacity) and environmental impacts.

2. Critically evaluate potential and limitations of the application of those energy technologies in Oman taking into consideration cost effective energy

3. Discuss the need for technologies diversification considering site allocations, and energy production efficiency
