These scholarships are provided by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and other generous benefactors
to students solely based on merit.
Value
Over £1,534,000 are allocated to these awards in a year. The summary of the scholarship awards is
as follows –
Major Awards for BPTC Year = £1,275,000
Under these, up to 90 scholarships are given ranging from £6,000 and £18,500 each. Also, 20
bursaries up to £3,000 each are provided.
Common Professional Examination (CPE) Scholarships for Non-Law Graduates with Outstanding Ability
= £150,000
Under these scholarships, around 32 awards of £8,000 each are given.
Tancred Studentships = £31,000
The BPTC year scholarships include two awards of up to £15,500 that are provided by the Tancred
Charities.
Candidates of Accommodation Awards (included in the BPTC year awards) are given 14 rooms in
self-contained flats at the Inn.
Awards for Pupillage Year = £25,000
Up to £1,500 are given to a maximum of 50 winners.
International Criminal Court, The Hague Award = £3,500
Young barristers get to work for three months at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
Peter Duffy Human Rights Award = £3,500
Young barristers get to work for three months at the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg.
J P Warner Award = £3,500

Hardwicke Entrance Awards = £45,000
There are 100 of these awards given every year. It covers call fees, certain qualifying session
charges and admission. In addition to this, this award also provides one sitting of the Bar Council
Aptitude test.
Continuing Education Fund = £26,500
This is a bursary fund for overseas placements.
Sundry Prizes for Exam Papers and Debating Competitions = £2,000
For outstanding performance in the BTPC, barristers receive the Sir Louis Gluckstein Prize for
advocacy or debating. They also receive a Ravenscroft Award for the Student of the Year and the
Crowther Shield for extempore advocacy.
Eligibility Criteria
The general criteria for students to meet for the above mentioned awards and bursaries are –

The Civica Scholarship Program
Provided By
This scholarship program is funded by the Civica Group to I.T. sector related students of selected
Universities. The winners get an opportunity to work with ICT professionals who share their knowledge
and experience with the students.
Value
The students receive the following benefits from this scholarship program –
- They receive a £1,000 annual bursary
- They are offered at least 8 weeks of paid summer work during the academic year
- They get a paid industrial placement in the third year of their University education program
- They also get opportunities for paid part-time work with the Civica Group and elsewhere

National Health Service (NHS) Bursaries
Provided By
These bursaries are provided to students in the medical profession by the Government of UK through
its National Health Service. Students studying dentistry, medicine, healthcare and nursing in
UK are eligible to receive these bursaries. They do not have to return these bursaries after
completion of their course.
Value
Both full-time and part-time students can apply for bursaries, grants and reduced maintenance loans.
Part-time students receive reduced bursaries and grants.
Bursary
The students’ bursary depends on their household income. This income can be the students’ own
income, their family’s income or even the income of their spouse or civil partner. If students
had started a Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) Operating or Nursing Department Practitioner
course before 1st September 2012, they can receive a basic bursary that does not depend on their
household income.
If the applicants are studying to become doctors or dentists, they can apply for an NHS bursary
from their second year for graduate programs or from their fifth year for undergraduate programs.
Grants
Full-time students get a fixed amount of £1,000. Part-time students get a reduced amount. Both
sets of students have to apply for an NHS bursary to receive the grant.
Reduced Maintenance Loans
Full-time students get a reduced maintenance loan. The amount that the students receive depends
on where they live and study. It also depends on whether they are in the final year of their
course (They will get a lesser amount). The current rates for Maintenance Loan are -
a)Students studying in London who live away from their home receive £3,263
b)Students studying outside London who live away from their home receive £2,324
c)Students who are residing at their parental home receive £1,744.
The NHS bursary is paid into the students’ bank accounts in 12 equal monthly installments. The
Maintenance Loan is generally transferred to the students’ bank accounts at the beginning of
each term.
Extra Financial Aid
Apart from the NHS bursary, students may also apply for extra financial aid if -
- They have children
- They have adult dependants
- They have a disability, mental health condition, long-term health condition or specific learning
difficulty
- They are involved in a practice placement (placement outside the University)
- Their course in the academic year runs for more than 30 weeks and 3 days.
i. Dependants’ Allowance
Students may get dependants’ allowance if they have children or adults who are financially dependent
on them when the students are in training.
The amount that the students get depends on their respective household income.
ii. Childcare Allowance
Students must have applied for Dependants’ Allowance before they apply for Childcare Allowance. They
may get the NHS Bursary Childcare Allowance if they have children who are dependent on them.
The amount that the students get depends on their financial situation and their household income.
They cannot receive childcare allowance if they are not entitled to the NHS bursary.
The students must utilize a registered provider of childcare. Their children must be under the
age of 15 on the academic year’s first day (or under the age of 17 if they require special education).
The childcare allowance pays 85 percent of the gross cost up to:
a)For one child, £128.78 per week
b)For two or more children, £191.45 per week.
iii. Parent Learning Allowance Students must apply for Dependants’ Allowance first to
get the Parent Learning Allowance. If this includes a dependent child, they are automatically
assessed for the Parent Learning Allowance. Stud
ents can claim a maximum of £1,204 per academic year.
iv. Disabled Students’ Allowances
Students can get a disabled students’ allowance if they have to pay extra because of -
a)Physical disabilities
b)Long-term health conditions
c)Mental health issues
d)Specific learning issues like Dyslexia.
Students are required to give updated medical evidence of the severity and nature of their disability
from a qualified medical professional.
Students can receive financial aid of up to:
a)£20,725 for a person who will assist them (helper)
b)£5,214 for special equipment for the whole academic course
c)£1,741 for other expenses.
Practice placement expenses
If students are involved in a practice placement, they may claim travel costs if their practice
placement is in a community health centre or a hospital and not at their university. They can
also claim these expenses if it costs more to travel to the placement than it costs to travel
to their university.
Extra Weeks Allowance If the students’ course extends to more than 30 weeks and 3 days of the academic
year, they may be entitled to this Extra Weeks Allowance depending on where they live –
- They will get £108 per week if they study and live in London
- They will get £84 per additional week if they study and live outside London
- They will get £56 per additional week if they study and live at their parental homes.
The extra weeks allowance is automatically computed during the process of application.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility for an NHS Bursary depends on these criteria —
Place Where the Students Live
To apply for an NHS bursary, students must have been residing in UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel
Islands for 3 years up to the beginning of the academic year.
Course that the Students are Enrolled in
Students must also be accepted in either a full-time or a part-time NHS-funded course that will lead
them to register as a —
Doctor or a Dentist (students can apply for an NHS bursary from
the 5th year of a 5 or 6-year undergraduate course or from their 2nd year of a 4-year accelerated
graduate course)
- Chiropodist (including Podiatrist), Occupational Therapist, Dietician, Orthoptist, Prosthetist,
Physiotherapist, Radiographer, Orthotist, Audiologist, Radiotherapist, or a Speech and Language
Therapist
- Dental Therapist or Dental Hygienist
- Midwife, Nurse or an Operating Department Practitioner (diploma or degree course).
NHS bursaries are not provided to —
- Registered first level nurses who want a second registration in the nursing profession.
- Registered midwives who want a second registration in the midwifery profession.
Household Income of the Students
The students’ total bursary amount depends on their respective household income. This can either
be their own income, their parents’ income or the income of their partner, civil partner or spouse.
Previous or Current Funding other than the NHS Bursary
Students may be eligible for the NHS bursary even if they have had public funding for their higher
education. If they have an NHS bursary and want to change their profession within the medical
field, they may still be eligible.
Application and Deadline: To apply for an NHS bursary, students need to create a Bursary
Online Support System (BOSS) account on the NHS website for student bursaries. Students have
to re-apply every academic year to renew their bursary.
Application processes are different for new students and continuing students –
New Students
Students should wait until they receive an offer for the course place from the University or college
before they apply for the NHS bursary.
The date when the application process begins depends on the date when the students’ course starts.

Documents Required
Students must provide two original documents (not photocopies). One of these has to have a photograph
of the student (for example, birth certificate and a valid passport). The NHS Student Bursaries
department will return these documents to the students immediately after verifying them.
Continuing Students
The NHS Student Bursaries send continuing students an email invitation from [email protected]
to re-apply for their bursaries after an academic year. The date of this invitation depends upon
the beginning of the next academic year. No application is considered six months after the academic
year started.
Scholarships for International Students
British Chevening Scholarships for International Students
Provided By
The British Government – The Foreign and Commonwealth Office – provide these scholarships to students
of Chevening-eligible countries. These are scholarships provided to students for post-graduate
studies in UK.
Value
Most of the Chevening scholarships cover the cost of basic tuition fee, living cost of an individual
student to whom the scholarship is awarded, an economy class return air ticket to and from UK
and extra funds to cover other ‘essential expenditure.’
Eligibility Criteria
To win this prestigious scholarship, students have to meet these criteria –
- They must be citizens of the Chevening-participating countries, some of which are:
a)India and China have around 30 scholarships
b)More than 20 scholarships are allocated to South Korea, Indonesia, Egypt, Pakistan, Brazil
and Mexico
c)Less than five core scholarships are available to students from Canada and Australia
d)US students are not eligible for this scholarship program because they enjoy scholarship
awards from the Fulbright scholarship awards
- They must return to their own country for two years immediately after completing their education
- They must possess a relevant undergraduate degree that will make them eligible for a postgraduate
degree in UK. It is usually equivalent to a UK upper class 2:1 honors degree
- They must have at least two years of work experience
- They must have applied to three different eligible UK University courses and must have received
an unconditional offer from one of those by 14th July
- They must have the English language requirements of Chevening.

The deadline to apply for these scholarships is 3rd November. Students must refer to their country
page on the official Chevening website to know complete details of their respective application
processes.
Commonwealth Scholarships for Master’s and Ph.D. Studies
Provided By
These scholarships are provided by the Commonwealth Scholarships Committee (CSC) under UK Department
for International Development (DFID). These scholarships are provided to students of the Commonwealth
countries to promote education and higher learning in the citizens of the developing Commonwealth
countries’ citizens.
Value
The Commonwealth Scholarship Prospectus describes the scholarship value in details –
- The CSC will reimburse the airfare to and from the UK for winning students. Dependents’ airfare
and any journey undertaken before the completion of the award period will not be reimbursed
by CSC
- The approved tuition fee and examination fees are included in the scholarship award
- It provides a stipend allowance of £1,034 for students in UK, and £1,268 for students living
in the London metropolitan region
- A thesis grant is allowed if a thesis or dissertation needs to be prepared
- If the students have to travel within UK or overseas for study and its related purposes, they
will be provided with a study grant
- Students will be given an allowance for warm clothing to face the bitter UK cold and winter rains
- Ph.D. scholars will get one economy class return airfare to and from their work location for
fieldwork
- Another benefit for Ph.D. scholars is that they receive one mid-term paid visit to their home
country (except when they have taken or intend to take a spouse or child or if they have
already received airfare to travel to their home country for fieldwork)
- If the students’ scholarship is at least 18 months in duration, they get the following family
allowances – a)They get a Spouse Allowance of £222 per month if the students and their spouses
are residing at the same address in UK (unless the spouse is also a recipient of the scholarship
award)
b)They get a Child Allowance of £222 per month for the first child and £109 for the second
and third ones under the age of 16 if the spouse and the children are residing with the student
at the same address in UK
c)If, as a student, you are divorced, widowed or a single parent, you will receive a £444
per month child allowance for the first child and £109 for the second and third ones under
the age of 16 if they are residing with you at the same address in UK (irrespective of the
scholarship length)
d)The true costs for maintaining a family will be considerably higher. These allowances
are just a contribution from the CSC to help the students in their endeavors.

Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Virgin Islands (British), and
Zambia.
- Students must be available in UK to start their academic studies in September/October (the beginning
of the UK academic year)
- The student must have obtained either an upper second class (2:1) honors degree or a second class
honors degree with a relevant postgraduate degree (preferably a Master’s) by October
- The subject area of the student should be directly related to or promote the development of his/her
country
- The students must have passed an IELTS exam to prove their proficiency in the English language.
They must take the exam between 1st October and 6th March to be considered as valid
- The CSC does not accept any direct applications from the candidates for these scholarship awards.
The nomination for these candidates must arrive from the nominating agency that the student
has selected

Rhodes Scholarships at Oxford University for International Students
Provided By
The Rhodes Scholarships are provided by the Rhodes Trust for students to study at Oxford University.
A batch of 89 scholars is selected each year for them to pursue a full-time Oxford postgraduate
degree. This scholarship is possibly the oldest and the most prestigious scholarship award in
the world and was established in the Will of Cecil Rhodes in the year 1902.
Value
A Rhodes scholarship award covers all of the student’s living expenses by providing a personal stipend
(£13,658), University and college tuition fees, University application fee and an economy class
return airfare to and from Oxford University.
Eligibility Criteria
To be a Rhodes Scholar, applicants must meet the following criteria –
Citizenship Criteria – The applicants must fulfill the citizenship and residency criteria
for the Rhodes constituency (country from where they wish to apply). Each selected country has
their respective citizenship criteria. Students from these countries can apply to the Rhodes
scholarship program: Zimbabwe, Zambia, USA, UAE, Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho,
Swaziland, Namibia, and Malawi), Pakistan, New Zealand, Kenya, Jamaica and Commonwealth Caribbean,
India, Hong Kong, Germany, Canada, Bermuda and Australia.
Age Criteria – The age limit for applications vary between different Rhodes constituencies
(countries) and range from a minimum of 18 to a maximum of 28 in October of the application year.
Most countries have the average age limit as 24-25. Students are requested to check their constituency’s
page on the official website thoroughly to see the age criteria.
Education Criteria – All the winning students must have completed their Bachelor’s by
October following election with a very high standing. Rhodes Scholars have to exhibit academic
brilliance and only the best minds are offered an opportunity to be Rhodes Scholars. Some constituencies
require a 1st class or equivalent and also require an undergraduate course to be taken within
the constituency to qualify for the Rhodes scholarship.
Other general criteria include –

- Energy to utilize one’s talents to the fullest
- Should demonstrate courage, honesty, devotion to duty, kindliness, fellowship, unselfishness,

The application deadline varies between July-October. The course starts in October.

UWE Global Student Scholarships for International Students
Provided By
The University of West England, Bristol provides £100,000 worth of scholarships every year to deserving
International students. These scholarships include the Global Student Scholarship in which the
winning student has to work within the Global Student Support Office as an intern. That student
will also be required to carry out ambassadorial activities throughout his/her study tenure at
the University.
Value
The value of this scholarship award is a waiver of the whole tuition fee of the student.
Eligibility Criteria
The winning student has to meet these criteria –
- The student has to be classed as an overseas student for fee purposes
- The student should not be sponsored or in receipt of another scholarship/award
- The student should be new to the University of West England, Bristol and should not have studied
previously in UK.
- The student must hold either an unconditional offer or a conditional offer where an IELTS exam
or an equivalent English
language test is the only condition
- The student must have achieved a 1st in a British undergraduate degree or its equivalent
- The student must have received an unconditional offer from the University of West England for
a Master’s program
- The student must provide official transcripts at the time of his/her application.
Application and Deadline
After the student has been offered the Master’s program at university of West England, he/she can
visit the University’s website and apply for the scholarship via a task.
The application deadline is 31st March and the scholarship award starts from 1st September.
University of Bradford Global Development Scholarships
Provided By
The University of Bradford offers these extremely helpful scholarships to students who are facing
hardships in a country that is facing a severe political crisis, natural disaster or war.
Value
Each scholarship has a value of approximately £20,000. Full tuition fee and accommodation fees are
covered in the Green. In addition to these, £3,500 is paid in three installments for living expenses.
The three installments are paid in October, January and April. Five Bestway Foundation Scholarships
are available to students from Pakistan. There are two further scholarships available to students
from other countries listed in the next segment.
Eligibility Criteria
Students from selected countries are awarded with scholarships. Any Bachelor’s degree is sufficient,
but an engineering or technological background is preferred.
Afghanistan
A Licence (Bachelor degree) with a 75 percent overall average plus a minimum of 2 years of work
experience is required unless the students have received their degree from the University of
Kabul with a minimum of 70 percent overall aggregate.
Angola
The students must have secured a Grau de Licenciado/a or Grau de Mestre with a minimum grade
of 13/20.
Bangladesh
The students have to complete a 4-year Bachelor’s program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0
scale plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is required unless they have studied
at BUET.
Burundi
The students must hold a Diplome d’Ingenuir with a miminum of 65 percent or a GPA of 2.5 on
a 4.0 scale.
Cameroon
Students have to complete their Bachelor’s degree or Licence with a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0 or
a grade of 12/20.
Central African Republic
Students must possess a Diplome d’Ingenieur or Maitrise with an overall minimum average of 12/20.
Colombia
Students must hold a Licenciado/Titulo de (subject area) with a minimum GPA of 3.0/5.0.
Eritrea
Students must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0, plus a relevant work experience
of minimum 2 years.
Ethiopia
Students must possess either a Bachelor’s degree of 4 years duration with a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0,
plus 4 years of relevant work experience. They can also qualify if they hold a Bachelor’s degree
of at least 4 years with a GPA of 2.5/20, plus 2 years of relevant work experience.
Honduras
Students have to hold a Bachillerato Universitario with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 5.0 scale,
plus 2 years of relevant work experience or a Licenciado with a minimum GPA of 3.0 from 5.0.
Indonesia
Students must hold a Bachelor’s degree/Sarjana I with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Mzuzu University or the University of Malawi with an overall minimum average of 60% or a GPA
of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Mozambique
Students must have completed either Grau de Licenciado/a or Grau de Mestre with an overall minimum
grade of 12 out of 20.
Myanmar
Students have to complete a 4-year Bachelor’s (Honors) degree with an overall minimum grade
of 65 percent, plus a minimum of 2 years of applicable work experience. They can also complete
a 5-year Bachelor’s degree in any professional subject with an overall minimum grade of 65 percent
or a Master’s degree with an overall minimum grade of 65 percent.
Nepal
Students have to complete a 4-year Bachelor’s degree with an overall minimum average of 50 percent
or GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0. They can also hold a Master’s degree (after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree)
with an overall minimum average of 50 percent or GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Occupied Palestinian Territory
Students from this war-torn country can possess any Bachelor’s degree with an overall minimum
average of 70 percent or GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Pakistan (Students from Pakistan are Considered for Five Bestway Foundation Scholarships)
Pakistani students must have completed a 4-year Bachelor’s degree with an overall minimum average
of 60 percent or GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 or a First Division. They can also have a Master’s degree
with an overall minimum average of 60 percent or GPA of 2.5 from 4.0 or First Division.
Russia (North Caucasus)
Students need to have a Bachelor’s degree or a Specialist Diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.5
out of 5.0.
Sierra Leone
Students must have a Bachelor’s degree (Honors) with an overall minimum grade B or a Bachelor’s
degree (Ordinary) with an overall minimum grade B.
Somalia

The scholarship panel of the University of Bradford provides these tips to applicants while submitting
web applications –
- The students must explain how the situation in their country has affected them and their studies.
They should not just describe what is happening in their country
- Students should write a detailed statement with complete description of their conditions. This
is the only way panelists can judge your application. Additional documents may be requested
for if the students are selected
- Students should not focus on their academic qualifications if they do not match the criteria
given above. The University may provide scholarship to students of other countries as well
as whose conditions have become extremely severe.
The deadline for this scholarship is 15th May and the results are declared in June.
The Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded by the Charles Wallace India Trust (CWIT). It is a recognized English
Charity whose trustees include one nominated member of the British Council. The British Council
provides CWIT with valuable advice and administrative guidance. Charles Wallace was a British
Indian who lived in Calcutta and founded the trust to repay the people (Indians) who helped him
in his rise to prominence.
Value
The awards cover education costs from 2-3 months up to a maximum of one year. CWIT does not support
two-year courses.
Nature of Awards and Grants
CWIT covers the following fields of study related to Arts –

Heritage Conservation
This program helps students to be placed in archaeology and curating, conservation or museology at
the Victoria and Albert Museum or other selected institutions. The Nehru Memorial Trusts for
Indian collections also funds this heritage conservation program apart from the CWIT.
Students receive help for these tasks as part of the heritage conservation –
- Management of museum and collections
- Conservation of materials such as timber, stone metal including metal structure, armor, paintings,
photographs and film
- Conservation of architecture
- Management of heritage projects and sites
- Conservation of landscape.
Through the British Museum International Training Program, the CWIT supports one Indian student to
carry out the heritage conservation tasks and be placed in the institutions stated above.
Artist Residencies
Two Artist Residencies are supported by the CWIT –
- Gasworks International Residency programs are co-funded by CWIT and INLAKS Foundation
- Spike Island Residency Program, a three-month residency program at Spike Island Bristol and CWIT,
supports many notable artists from Spike Island.
Scottish Universities International Summer Schools (SUISS)
Two scholarships for accommodation, fees and living costs at Edinburg is provided by CWIT for participants
of these two courses in the SUISS –
- Creative writing
- Text and Context of British and Irish literature since 1900.
The students must send their applications to SUISS and pay for their own international fares
and expenditures.
In addition to the above, here the other grants offered under this scholarship —
- 10 long-term awards are given every year to mid-career practitioners, but it varies depending
upon the demand. The awards are usually for 2-3 months up to a year and cover accommodation,
fees and living costs in UK. They also include part of the international fares
- 10 visiting fellowships are awarded to students from writing, academic and translating sector
to spend 2-3 months at the host universities
- Participation of Indians in Royal Court Theatre's International playwriting residences scheme
is supported by CWIT
- CWIT offers grants to Indian students completing their final year of Ph.D. studies in Universities
of UK
- There are 10-15 grants available to students for short research and professional visits. The
value of these grants adds up to around £1,400. The visits and research pertain to fields
like archaeology, arts heritage, literature, performing arts, history, history of art, humanities
and general conservation. Students preparing for publication and doing archival research
can also apply for this grant. The grants are sufficient for the students to live for three
days in UK. If they have to extend their stay, they will have to arrange funding from elsewhere.
Post-doctoral students will be given preference but students in their later doctoral stages
can also apply. The areas of study that are not covered under this grant are science, law,
economics, management, anthropology, international relations, publishing and development
studies.
Eligibility Criteria
- The students should be Indian citizens
- They must be aged between 25 and 38 years
- They must have a diploma, first degree or professional qualification in their area of specialization
- They should have significant working experience to be preferred over their competitors
- They should not have received any other CWIT grant in the last 5 years
- They must provide names and email addresses of two such people (referees) who know about their
work
- Students must also provide the details of any other grant that they are receiving
- Students must have taken an IELTS examination to prove their proficiency in the English language.
Application and Deadline
- Students must ensure that their applications contain a strong statement of purpose. This statement
should clearly show the students’ reason for visiting UK, the course that they plan to pursue
and how they will implement the knowledge that they will acquire in UK
- They have to provide evidence of their acceptance in a University program or show progress towards
being accepted
- The application has to be submitted in the allotted centers in the form of a DVD, CD or hard
copy
- The deadline for the long-term awards is on 15th November

Athletic Scholarships
Royal & Ancient Golf Scholarship

These scholarships are provided by the Royal & Ancient (R&A) Foundation to support the education
of talented young golfers.
Value
The R&A Foundation is currently supporting golf programs in 11 Universities and has allocated
more than £250,000 to the University programs and individual awards. It awards more than 100
individuals from across Europe. Scholarships may be used for books, tuition fees, board and lodging,
golf club subscriptions, competition entry fees and expenses otherwise spent according to the
Rules of Amateur Status. The Annual Foundation Scholars Tournament is the showpiece event of
the academic year. It is contested every April over 54 holes at St Andrews. The tournament’s
male winner reserves his place in the European Palmer Cup team against the USA, while the female
winner reserves her place at a Ladies European Tour event. This event also carries World Amateur
Golf Ranking points.
Eligibility Criteria
- All individual scholars must be occupied in full-time tertiary education
- Male awardees are required to hold a handicap of plus 1 or superior
- Female awardees are required to hold a handicap of plus 2 or superior
- Applicants who have been selected in national teams or squads will be considered even if they
do not meet the handicap provisions
- Award recipients are required to submit a progress report on their golf career.

Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS)

The government of UK funds this scholarship program through its Department of Culture and Sport.
It is supported with funds from Sport England and Sports Aid. This scheme creates a unique partnership
between supremely gifted young athletes, the higher educational institutions and the National
Governing Bodies (NGBs) of sport. The scheme assists young athletes to balance their training
and development in sport with their academic life.
Athletes of 30 sports are given this scholarship –
Athletics, Aquatics (diving, synchro), Basketball, Boccia, Badminton, Boxing, Canoe, Disability
Football, Football (Women), Goalball, Cricket (Women), Gymnastics, Judo, Modern Pentathlon, Netball,

Tennis, Triathlon, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Wheelchair Basketball, Weightlifting.

TASS offers young athletes a customized package of core facilities including education and lifestyle
support, strength and conditioning, sport psychology, physiotherapy, sports medicine, and nutrition
advice.

The L’Oreal UK & Ireland Fellowships for Women in Science

These fellowships are provided by a partnership of L’Oreal UK & Ireland, The National Commissions
of both UK & Ireland for UNESCO and the Royal Society. These fellowships promote women’s
research in science at any UK or Ireland University.
Value
Each candidate receives £15,000 (€15,000 for Ireland) for a 12-month period which can be used for
practically anything that furthers the research that these fellowship winning women are carrying
out. They can choose to buy new equipment or even pay for their children’s education with this
prize money. It also provides training, support and networking opportunities to the fellowship
winning women.
Eligibility Criteria
All the female candidates have to be conducting post-doctoral research in any field of science –
life science, physical sciences, mathematics and engineering.

Women in Engineering Programme

The Brunel University London provides this program of scholarship awards to women who are pursuing
‘Masters of Science (M.Sc.)’ programs at the University under the College of Engineering, Design
and Physical Sciences department. This program is for the women to realize their total potential
in the profession of engineering as they are provided with a professional industry mentor to
supervise their progress.
The winners are required to promote their profession through activities like conferences, publishing
blogs, authoring books and magazines, etc. This may be used in future by Brunel University as
part of its publicity program.
Value
Each year, 30 scholarships are given to winners. Each scholarship consists of a £5,000 tuition fee
waiver and an additional £5,000 in cash is given to be used as education expenses for the engineering
Master’s courses at Brunel University. If the tuition fee is less than £5,000, then the cash
bursary is increased as required.
This cash bursary is paid in three installments for all Master’s course pursuing women (except
for those who are starting their courses in January – they are paid in two equal installments).
The winners are given individual professional development training with the help of the professional
industry mentors and their expert supervision.

Scholarships in Performing Arts
BAFTA Scholarships

These scholarships are provided by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
Value
The value of these scholarships is a lump sum of £10,000 which covers the students’ one year’s course
fees. The students are also provided with an industry mentor and free of cost access to any BAFTA
event in an around UK for a year.
Students also stand a chance to win one of the three Prince William Scholarships for film, games
and television which is supported by BAFTA and Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. provide a short, paid work placement within the Warner Bros. group and give the
students access to an additional mentor belonging to the Warner Bros. group.
Eligibility Criteria
- BAFTA’s scholarship awards are only available to UK nationals who exhibit financial need
- If the student is a non-EU citizen and has a confirmed residency of UK, then he/she may apply
on the condition that they have to supply confirmation from the Home Office of their residency
- Citizens of other EU countries are ineligible for application
- Students of a two-year course are considered for a scholarship in their second year.

The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Scholarships

The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) provides these scholarships. There are
four Royal schools of Music – Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, the Royal College
of Music in London, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Eight awards are offered to International students – two each in all four Royal Schools of Music.
Similarly, eight awards are offered to UK-based home fee students and eight awards are offered
to EU-based home fee students. These two awards in each school of music consist of one undergraduate
award and one postgraduate award.
Value
The scholarships to International students provide them with full payment of their tuition fee for
the full duration of their course. In addition to this payment, they receive a maintenance fee
of £5,000 towards their living expenses. This additional amount is given in term installments.
The difference between the scholarship awards to International and UK/EU-based home fee students
is that the latter do not receive a maintenance fee. They receive £6,000 as the scholarship award
which can be used as their tuition fee or as their living expenses. They are free to allocate
the amount according to their wishes.
Eligibility Criteria
The criteria that International students must meet are –
- They must belong to any country that is not part of the European Union (EU)
- They must not have been studying in UK for a year or more before 31st January of the year of
application. For example, if they apply in September of 2016, they should not have been studying
in the UK for a year or more before 31st January 2016
- They have to be at least 17 years of age for the undergraduate course and 21 years of age for
the postgraduate course on 31st January of the year of application.

General criteria – Winners of the scholarship are selected on the basis of merit
at the audition sessions of the Royal Schools of Music.
Application and Deadline
The students have to apply to their preferred Royal School of Music. Separate processes of application
are not necessary as candidates are considered by the Admissions Board of each Royal School of
Music. Recommendations are made directly to the ABRSM by the chosen school of music. The deadline
for musical theory and practical exam applications is 21st January.
Corporate Scholarship
IdeasTap Uni Fee Fund
Provided By
IdeasTap provides this lucrative fund that wipes off a considerable amount of a winning student’s
loan. It is based on an idea that students have to provide the company in less than 100 words.
The idea simply has to tell the company what the student can do to further improve the network
of IdeaTaps.
Value
The company will invite 50 shortlisted ideas to explain their idea in detail. From these 50 students,
one will be chosen as the lucky winner of £9,000 and will be presented the chance to demonstrate
his/her idea with the support of the IdeasTap group. Four runners-up will receive a lump sum
of £500.
All these monetary awards will be paid directly to the Students’ Loan Company.
Eligibility Criteria
The student must be based in UK and also has to meet the following criteria –
- The student must have taken a loan of £9,000 or more (IdeasTap will ask for the Student Loans
statement if that student is shortlisted)
- Students must have studied in UK and taken a loan with a Student Loans Company
- Must be pursuing their first degree – The company will not pay towards a Master’s or a Postgraduate
qualification
- Students should have their picture on their IdeasTap profile
- IdeasTap must be permitted to use any of the ideas from shortlisted entrants, submissions, runners-up
and the winner.
