Video Card

A video card which is also known as by many names such as graphics card, graphics adapter, display adapter, display card is basically an expansion card which helps to enhance the quality of image which is displayed in the computer. It is an internal device attached to the motherboard which is responsible for overall handling for processing, the visual data people see on the display. Most of the video cards are not limited to simple display output. The video cards integrated processor can perform additional processing by removing this task from the central processor of the computer.

 Nowadays, the video cards are like co- processors which mean that the video cards have additional processing power rather than only forwarding a common signal onto the display. Video card checks the quality of the image output and assists to take full advantage of the abilities of the display. The video card is composed the following components: Video-memory, Video-BIOS, GPU (graphic processing unit) and DVI (Digital Visual Interface). These components are utilized in order to optimize the data from the processor so as to match the capabilities of the display.

The other types of video card are: video cards generally come in three different connectors types such as PCI (Peripheral component interconnect), AGP (Advanced graphics port), and PCI Express. A video card is used for generating output images which is displayed on the computer. The video card increases the quality and makes the image more visually clear, better and smooth. The video cards are generally used in video editors and games.
