Ligaments can be stated as the bundles or rather bunch of connective tissues that can be used to connect one bone with another. The connection is between the adjacent bones. Collagen fibres is stated as one of the building blocks of the ligaments. The collagen fibres are flexible, very strong and can easily resists damage by removing the stress. The fibres which are present are arranged in different bundle format which are parallel. It supports in increases the strength of the individual fibres which are present in the ligaments. Ligaments are capable of preventing different movement. It also helps in gaining stability and maintains the joints when it is in motion. Ligaments are present all over our body. It is present in knees, elbows, ankles, shoulders and all the other joints. There are different types of injuries which can occur due to sports. There are accidents due to which the ligaments generally tear. There are various treatments that can be made to recover the ligament injuries such as physical therapy and different type of surgeries.

There are two major types of ligaments which are present in the body. The types are white ligaments and yellow ligaments. The white ligaments consists of collagenous fibres which are inelastic and sturdy in nature. On the other hand the yellow ligaments are the one which is rich in elastic fibres and are tough. However they are elastic in nature and allow the flexibility in movement. Ligaments allows movement in varying degrees and is one of the essential part of body structure.
