Answered

Background of Study

However, in this research, the researcher will provide evidence that this old view of seeing the main concerns link to staff turnover is completely wrong as majority of new jobseekers in the UK prefer to work with an organization that has a clear goals and objectives set, creditable ethics and good leadership and management styles, impacting the way that organizations think. Futhermore, the researcher will examine the main issue related with the topic and will recommend appropriate leadership and management styles that improves staff turnover.

The intend of this research is to examine and identify how leadership and management styles affect staff turnover in IKEA UK.
According with recent government data, more multinational companies and medium sizes companies are implementing increase in their employees’ wages in order to keep the satisfaction of their employees and maintain a reputable company ethics in order to avoid staff turnover (Swell, 2020). However, according with The guardian Journalist Richard Partington, new employees prefer to work for an organization where management defend the right of expression of their employees, have a credible organization ethics and respect the culture and background of each employee instead of working for an organization that pay relatively well but does not have any of the attributes mentioned (Partington, 2019).

Therefore, the new social opinion contradicts the way of how organizations implement strategies for recruiting new staff and retaining old employees. Futhermore, organizations such IKEA UK has been affected since 2018 due the level of poor management approach, leadership style and no initiative of willing to change their operation for avoiding staff turnover, affecting IKEA UK  sales due to shortage of staff in main vital departments such a customer service, restaurant and tills (Cain, 2018).

The researcher will recommend suggestions for changing the actual leadership and management styles set in place for reducing the number of employees leaving IKEA.

IKEA is a multinational Swedish organization founded in 1958 by Ingvar Kamprad in Sweden and with headquarter in Netherlands that operates worldwide as furniture retailer. IKEA branch was opened in 1987 in Warrington and extended their branches trough the UK territory in 1990 (Loeb, 2012).

Research has provided evidence that some of the factors responsible for this include poor management approach and lack of leadership in each department, urging a drastically change in IKEA operation. Therefore, without a proper review of their management and leadership style, IKEA is being affect with staff shortage impeding to scope the demand of each department and this research will intend to suggest how to reduce staff turnover by implementing new leadership and management styles.
