The business involving SMEs as well as the trend to mass customization in bigger companies often lead to manufacturing in low volumes, which requires a different approach and tools for Quality Management.
The aim of the project is to identify and demonstrate quality management tools to be used in low volume production environment.
•Evaluate different types of Quality control tools used in production.
•Investigate the outcomes obtained by implementing these QC tools in a low – volume production profile or case study.
•Analyse the current situation in Low volume production.
My professor demand a low volume production which number of item are produced less than 10. Consider a production that requires customisation. For example Prosthesis design and manufacture;Yachts.
Above mentioned are objectives of the project. As part of first objective, I have included and explained 7QC tools in my literature review. So first objective is completed, In the second objective I have to find a case study which seriously discuss about customised low volume production. With the help of 7 Qc tools ( Control Chart, Histogram, Pareto diagram, check sheet , scatter diagram, causes and effect diagram, defect concentration diagram ) evaluate the process performance and statistical controllability of the above mentioned low volume production profile. If the above tools are not applicable in the case study. Discuss why it is not applicable.
As part of third objective, discuss about new quality control tools used in the low volume profile. Evaluate the process performance using these tools. illustration with one tool may be enough.
As per the Project report format ,after the discussion it follows Result &Conclusion, scope of the project and learning outcomes.
