Introduction To Human Resource Management

Human Resource Management is the method of recruiting, selecting, inducting employees, providing orientation, imparting training and development, appraising the performance levels of the employees, deciding compensation and offering benefits, motivating employees, maintaining appropriate relations with employees and the trade unions. Human Resource Management deals with the management functions like planning, organizing, directing and controlling and it also deals with the procurement of human resources, training & development and preservation of the human resources. The subject of Human Resource Management includes detailed study of management, communication, psychology, sociology communication and sociology. Further the Human Resource Management subject aims dealing with the building team work and team spirit and it is also a continuous method. Human Resource Management subject consists of three different parts like Human which mainly refers to the skilled staff in a firm, Resource on the other hand discusses about the limited availability or scarcity and Management thereby refers the ways by which limited or scarce resources can be optimized and made appropriate use of the resources so that the organization’s goals and objectives can be met. Human resource management strategies in the organization are thereby related to the effective utilization of the available workforce and also making efficient usage of the existing human resources in the firm. The human resources or employees are considered to be critical aspects of the organizations that have their operations in different parts of the world. The course named “Introduction to Human Resource Management” mainly provides detailed knowledge to the students regarding the importance of employees and human resources in the organizations. The purpose of the Human resource management system in an organization is to develop the job and deal with the job holder or the employees. Human resource management mainly sees the employees from the viewpoint as the most appreciated resources of the firms and they also consider the employees as assets and capital for the organisations. Motivating the employees is considered to be a major feature of human resource management as compared to personal management. The major principle of human resource management is related to seeing what needs to be given or provided to the employees for gaining the desired work. Human resource managers always aim at encouraging the participation of employees in the decision-making process and their ideas are mostly valued. Flexibility in the work, welfare and the work life balance of employees is considered to be a high priority for the managers and they also display higher levels of concern towards the employee issues.  The students will be able to use this knowledge in the future for the purpose of understanding the different aspects of human resource management and the strategies that can be implemented for enhancing the performance levels of employees.

The different aspects that Human Resource Management aims at dealing with include the following, Any aspect that is related to the management of individuals within the firm or an organization. This also relates to the decisions, approaches, principles, processes, practices, functions, activities, and the various approaches that can be used for managing the employees. The different types of relationships that individuals have in the places of employment and something that influences the relationships in the positive or negative manner. Confirming that the employees are contented with various conditions of the employment related aspects. This can also lead to the better services and manufacture of goods that helps in the success of the company. HRM in an organization also focusses on bringing in or recruiting the new employees who have new talents for an organization and thereby managing the employees. Human resource management also includes the ideas, creativity, talents and knowledge that the employees are bringing with them and using them for the purpose of helping the firm to be successful. Human resource management is thereby a vital part of the organizational operations and all organizations need to include this department for the purpose of increasing morale of the employees and working on the relations that are formed between the employers and employees. The HR department also aims at offering proper support to the employees for assisting them to enhance their performance levels. The human resource management-based function mainly aims at extending its activities to the proper assessment of the levels of productivity and success of each department in the organizations. Human resource department can also assist each of the departments and also helps them in improving their work process. The HRM department aims at intervening when it is necessary for helping the organizations to solve any complications that can arise based on the work of employees. The major objectives of the human resource management department are mainly the goals that have been developed by an organization. The activities of the individuals or groups are thereby organized in such a manner that help in achievement of the goals or objectives. The firms and companies are aiming to protect and manage some of the resources that include human resources for achievement of the definite goals.
