Strategic Analysis of Toyota UK: Impact of Brexit and Coronavirus

1.Syllabus: everything covered in both semesters of the module up till and including the topic covered a week before the test.

2.Answer 40 MC questions in 30 mins, each question carries 1 mark

3.Do the test on Canvas at any place of your choice as long as you can access Canvas and the test there.

4.You must complete the test within the following period: from 8am on 10 March 2020 (Tue) to 5pm on 12 March 2020 (Thurs).  

5.Once you have started the test, you have to sit through the whole test in one go.

6.One question will appear on the screen at a time.

7.You should answer the question on the screen before proceeding to the next question.

8.Once your 30 min time allowance is up, the test will stop. So time yourself properly!

9.After submitting the whole test, your test will be immediately automatically marked, and you will see your mark right away.

The 40 MC questions in each test will be drawn randomly from a same MC questions pool.

This part of the assessment will reflect your individual contribution to the module. It will count for 60% of the module. As Brexit is currently still being negotiated and the outcome is far from certain, this year will provide a unique opportunity to explore strategic scenarios and current issues facing a company and industry.

You should provide an up-to-date and integrated and systematically structured report with good linkages between sections and effective application of relevant concepts based on macro and micro analysis, positioning, corporate parenting stakeholder management, and leadership.  You should provide a sound and convincing strategic analysis grounded on relevant credible data sources appropriately referenced.

Your paper should address the following key issues:

1/ Using appropriate frameworks a) assess the impact of Brexit and Coronavirus on Toyota’s UK operations and discuss how current environmental factors have influenced the company’s supply chain.

2/ Please research the corporate parent of Toyota UK and analyse how it interacts with Toyota UK in achieving overall competitive advantage?  

3/ How can stakeholder analysis be useful in dealing with some of the problems facing the Toyota parent company and the UK subsidiary?    

Structure clearly and logically a report/plan using appropriate section headers and other appropriate formatting showing a clear logical flow of ideas.

Assess the organisations relevant external and internal environments, problem areas and capabilities using the module’s relevant theoretical tools.

Source and synthesize appropriate research (i.e. organisation, industry, competition, macro environment) using appropriate tools.

Make logical recommendations based on your previous analysis.

Clearly written without spelling, punctuation and other editing errors.

Your work shows a broad, up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the material covered in this module and of the way in which key concepts relate to one another.  You also show awareness of how some aspects of the material are uncertain or contradictory.

Your work takes a critical approach and uses a range of evidence, reasoned argument and reflection.

Your work shows good academic practice in terms citation and referencing, presentation format and clear, accurate English.
