Personal Development Plan: Summative Portfolio

Part 1 - Personal Analysis

You are required to complete an individual summative portfolio which includes the four parts described below, that will demonstrate your engagement, learning and application of topics covered on the module.

You should reflect on the ways the module has contributed to your academic and professional development. Justify your answer with reference to key aspects of the module, theoretical perspectives and your own development.

What is a Personal Development Plan?

The aim of creating a personal development plan is to document a process of self-analysis, personal reflection and honest appraisal of your strengths and weaknesses. It enables you to reflect upon your recent experience and to focus on the next stage of your training and development.

Part 1 – Personal Analysis. Say something about yourself. You can use words and photos, if you wish. This is a brief introduction to who you are. You should mention, for example, where you are from, where you have lived, if, and where you have travelled, and how you decided what you to study.

You should analyse your personal and academic strengths and weaknesses as a result of these experiences. Consider your career and the outcomes of courses that you may have attended previously. Also state the perceived opportunities that have been derived from your experience and any potential threats to your continued success.

Part 2 – Setting Goals.  Set a minimum of 3 SMART goals for yourself. You will discuss your goals with your lecturer in tutorials.

Part 3 – Personal Objectives.  Set out a minimum of 4 personal objectives for yourself. These can also be set in the context of work and /or academia.
