Strategies for Handling Future Business Issues: A Report for the CEO of a UK Business Organisation

L01: Demonstrate current understanding of some specialist areas in depth, in appreciating the different approaches to leadership and their relevance, in a multi-cultural context.

L02: Critically reflect upon the concepts;or 'organisational responsibility and 'responsible leadership' and their implications for private, public and third sector institutions. 

L03: Critically examine the evolving and complex relationship between business, government and civil society in the context of ethical and corporate social responsibilities.

L04: Acquire advanced knowledge and understanding of the key categories, social media tools, and organisational approaches towards social media and their im acts on business organisations. 

Assessment Descriptions: This assessment is for formal report writing with a maximum word limit of 4,000 words plus or minus 10%. Words in tables, diagrams and appendices including reference lists will not be counted. Students should note that there may be penalties for assessment work that is over or under the permitted word count. 

i) Students must provide a completed Assessment cover sheet with all the essential details including module, student name and ID numbers.

ii) All Assessments should be submitted in electronic format via college systems (VLE) before the submission deadline.

iii) The e-submission system will not allow any late submission.

iv) All late submissions will be capped to 'PASS'. 

This assessment aims to enhance your knowledge and ability to apply a range of appropriate theories, models, and conceptual frameworks in formulating current and future business strategies to handle future business issues effectively. This assessment also aims at testing your knowledge and ability to apply contemporary leadership approaches to manage organisations responsibly and ethically concerning the dimension of business issues (social, cultural, economic and environmental). It will also testify to your understanding of the impact of social media on business development. 

Business organisations in the UK are going through an unprecedented time due to the spread of Covid-19, BREXIT and global supply chain issues. The problem started taking a different turn in the financial, social and employment sectors. Therefore, most of the sectors in business had become quite unpredictable. Consequently, the overall economy in the UK became volatile because of the uncertainty. The businesses in the UK do not only become vulnerable, but frustration also started growing in people's minds. Although the UK Government assure the people that the UK will certainly overcome this crisis, the fear is vividly there. 

Concerning the Covid-19 crisis, the majority of the population have been vaccinated, however, there is an obvious fear that the viral infection may rise again with a more powerful variant. Therefore, many organisations in the UK are taking extra precautions to combat the current situation. These organisations are investing substantial human and non-human resources to run their operation online and remotely. Those who are ready may achieve well their target, should the viral infections spread again. 

If the spread of Covid-19 surges then, the UK Government may not able to provide financial support (like Furlough, Bounce-Back Loan etc.). in that case, those who are not being prepared may vitally lose their business. 

So, there is a dilemma in today's strategy for tomorrow's business. This contradictory strategy certainly made the 'Business Futures' unpredictable.

The CEO of your chosen company has called (assume, Business Consultant) you in to ask for your advice on Business Future planning matters to overcome various changes under the COVID — 19 Pandemic or recent BREXIT issues. You need to choose a reputed UK Business Organisation from FTSE 100 companies LSE (London Stock Exchange). You will need to establish your leadership skills to combat different uncertainty in business for the future. You will prepare an individual Report to submit for your company CEO. You will cover the following questions: 

Q1. Research about the different approaches to leadership and their relevance 25% in a multi-cultural context? Establish your contemperory in-depth understanding of some specialist areas of leadership.

Also, you should provide the actual evidence of these sources in the reference or appendix section). 

Q2. Critically distinguish the concepts of 'Corporate Responsibility and 'Responsible Leadership' and their implications for private, public and third sector institutions? (L02).  25%

Q3. Critically examine the relationship between business, government and civil society in the context of environmental, ethical and corporate social responsibilities? (L03). 25%

Q4. Research and demonstrate your analytical & advanced understanding of the key categories, social media tools, and organisational approaches towards social media and their impacts on strategic decision making on business organisations? (L04).

(Guidance: You must take at least three recent academic journals/articles/reports/books or similar sources between 2018 - 2021 to establish your understanding of social media and their impacts on strategic decision making on business organisations. Also, you should provide the actual evidence of these sources in the reference or appendix section). 25%
