Critically Evaluate Resourcing and Development Practices of a Case Study Organisation

Infographic

This assignment invites you to select a case study organisation and critically evaluate their resourcing and development practices. You should demonstrate that you understand the contemporary, strategic Human Resources practices taught on the module and the impact that these have when implemented in an organisation. This will be demonstrated by completing the following tasks: Part Title Description Word Count (+/- 10%) % of grade 1 Infographic Visual representation of the links between the module topics and the case study organisation. 500 16% 2 Report Critical evaluation of one Resourcing topic and one Development topic. Concludes with recommendations to the case study organisation. 2,000 68% 3 Staff Briefing An accessible document designed to inform employees of the case study organisation about one of the report’s recommendations. 500 16% All of the above tasks should be submitted at the same time, in the same document, via the Turnitin link on the Assessment page of the Blackboard site. All parts of the Assessment must be related to a case study organisation. The organisation can be one you have experience of (e.g. placement, part time job), or a case study sourced via research. Further details of what is required for each part are outlined below. ? 1. Infographic Your infographic should be a visual representation of the relative importance of all the topics covered on the module and the interplay between them in enabling the organisation to achieve its strategic goals. • Your infographic must include visual elements, such as images, photographs, cartoons, graphs, colours or something more creative. • You can use any software to design your infographic. Alternatively you may draw and scan your Infographic, as long as it is fully readable. It is recommended that the infographic is produced as A3 size. • Alongside the Infographic should be a brief explanation of what the infographic shows. 2. Report You should select one Resourcing topic and one Development topic to analyse in your report. In your report, you should critically evaluate how the chosen case study organisation operates with regards to this topic and thereby to what extent these areas of Resourcing and Development are adding value for the stakeholders in the organisation. This should be evaluated within the context of contemporary resourcing and development. Based on your assessment of the relevant academic literature, you should evaluate the approach of the case study organisation. Your evaluation should lead into the report recommendations. You are expected to make at least two SMART recommendations per topic. You should use a report structure with appropriate headings and sub-headings. You should ensure that the evaluation of the Resourcing topic and the evaluation of the Development topic are clearly defined and given equal attention. You should use your judgement to discern the number of words that you give to each section. You are reminded that higher level thinking skills, such as critical evaluation, secure more marks but, if undertaken effectively, may utilise fewer words than the necessary description of the organisation. You will be given support throughout the seminar programme for this module in the skills you will need, such as analysing academic journal articles and case studies. 3. Staff Briefing You should produce a Staff briefing document that would be used by a manager in your chosen case study organisation to inform employees that one recommendation from your report is to be implemented. Through your Staff Briefing, you need to explain why this recommendation is being implemented and the impact the changes will have on employees and other key stakeholders. You should demonstrate awareness that changes are likely to add value for certain stakeholders but have the potential to disadvantage other stakeholders The Staff Briefing should be written in plain and accessible language and is not expected to include academic references. In the seminar programme for this module you will consider how changes could be communicated to employees.
