There are several forms of educational approach in the education system, however there are several drawbacks of the classroom lectures in terms of understanding and day today application. One of the effective methods of delivering the classroom lecture, which is found to be much effective than several other methods of education is known as Socratic Method. Socratic Method is the method of instruction or inquiry which the Socrates employ. The Socratic method of knowledge is based on the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates, which has created an open ended inquiry to the students about their own assumptions. In this method of learning, it is not necessary that the students get to learn each and every topic in discussion, however which ever topic in discussed in the classroom but newer questions are raised which creates better understanding of the discussed topic. The Socratic method of education is all about a different classroom of education. As everybody is aware of the lecture style of class of knowledge, however not every student or learner finds it up to the mark as it is said that most of the learners find it difficult to get through all the points which is taught as they may find it difficult to absorb all in a single room of students just by hearing the lecturer being delivered to the entire class. At times student may also find themselves struggling with the classroom education and they might at times feel bored or demotivated at the same time.

Coming to the Socratic method of knowledge, it is primarily based on the critical thinking skills, so that there can be clear comparisons in between the stances of the student and the teacher rather than taking what the teacher says for granted.  Also, Socratic Method also creates a very different method of looking at a particular topic. It creates a very wider knowledge and better understanding of topics in discussion. It is also considered to be more effective in terms creating knowledge rather than imposing a certain knowledge on the students. It also results in an aspect of student imagination as far as the absorption of the topics and the knowledge related to it.

Generally in the classroom education , there are lectures given, where the students are ought to understand and consider whatever is said and explained by the teacher in context of the topic of discussion is true which also blocks their thinking capacity beyond what the teacher says.  Moreover, the students are condemn to learn only what is taught to them by their teacher. In this method, the students and the teacher uses probing questions to create a deeper and corer understanding of the class. The Socratic Method provide a chance to the students to chime into their own thought process in relation to the topic and thereby they are bound to only listen and understand the teacher. In the earlier days, the Socratic Method was considered to be an intimidating procedure where students were put down by the teachers and were ought to take the teacher’s lecture for grant.  However, in the modern Socratic method of learning the objective is to create better logical understanding with the discussion between the teacher and the students to and fro and not by condemning the student to only learn what the teacher has to teach. In this case of modern Socratic learning, apart from the students the teacher might also at times get to learn something newer and logical with proper reasoning. The Socratic however, is not found to have any concrete definition.

Then comes the accountability approach, where the professor tries to know if the students have gone through their note or the study material. The last Approach is the thinking approach where few  students are asked questions and only few may answer the questions like if the teachers asks question which will be apart from the study material also the questions are asked which are hypothetical in nature, so that students start to think beyond your textbooks.
