Effective Intervention for Weight Loss: Recreation Activity and Changing Diet or Exercise

Discussion

Introduction:

It is evident that overweight is one of the risk factors which increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and becoming the individual resistant towards tissue cells and muscles. It also increases the risk of developing heart disease, stroke and prolonged high blood glucose level (Throuvala et al., 2021).

The following paper will highlight about the effective intervention such as recreation activity and changing diet or exercise in order to loss weight among the individual suffering from obesity.

Discussion:

PICO question- “Does implementation of proper community recreation activity and changing in exercise and diet helps in losing weight in three months?”

Search databases:

The search databases were used for collecting paper includes “PubMed”, “NCBI” and “Google Scholar”.

Search engines:

The search engines which is used for collecting papers includes- “Losing Weight”, “Obesity”, “Recreation activity”, “Exercise”, “Exercise AND obesity”, “Overweight OR recreation activity”, “Obesity AND weight losing”.

The Boolean operators AND and OR is used for collecting the papers as it helps in narrowing down the search.

Study limits:

The study included papers published between 2016 to 2021. Both primary and secondary study is included. However, the study only included papers which focused upon exercise intervention in lowering excessive weight and improving the metabolism.

Literature review:

Quist et al., (2017) performed the studies for determining the effectiveness of leisure time exercise and active commuting for enhancing fat loss women and women suffering from obesity.

The study highlighted that aerobic exercise is usually recommended in order to manage proper weight and improve the condition of obesity among the individual.

The result of the study highlighted that tasting after 6 and 3 month was done among 90 and 95 participants where fat mass was found to be reduced after the consecutive month.

The exercise intervention was found to be effective in maintaining a proper moderate intensity exercise along with vigorous exercise.  Active commuting   is also regarded as a time leisure exercise and it is effective in managing overweight and obesity.

Cvetkovic et al., (2018) performed the study for determining exercise training among overweight children.  This study aimed at comparing the effect of recreational football along with high intensity interval training upon muscle fitness, body composition, and cardiovascular fitness among the overweight and obesity individuals.

The result of the study highlighted that the muscle mass and the lean body mass was found to be increased in the recreational football group however improvement is also observed in the high intensity interval training group.

Significant reduction was found in force training body mass and the body fat decreased in lesser amounts in the recreational football group. Hence in this case the study was successful in determining the fact that intensity interval exercise training and recreational football help in improving physical activity and lowered fat muscle among children.

Blond et al., (2018) performed the study for determining the effectiveness of 6-month active commuting or leisure time exercise upon various factors such as cardiorespiratory fitness, insulin sensitivity and intra-abdominal fat.

The result of the study highlighted that peripheral insulin sensitivity was found to be improved along with cardiovascular fitness in all the exercise groups when compared at 6 months.  vigorous exercise and moderate exercise were found to lower abdominal fat and mass which indicates that leisure time exercise is effective in managing body weight.

Ribeiro et al., (2017) stated that 5-day recreational physical activity camp for children was found to improve muscle mass and improve lower limb and upper limb strength.  The physical fitness program was effective for children suffering from obesity.

Song et al., (2021) highlighted That regular physical activity fitness is effective in improving the body mass index and lowering the risk of developing obesity.

Conclusion:

The study highlighted that the implementation of exercise intervention and recreational program is effective in maintaining body strength and body mass index by managing the overweight condition.
