How to use the Blog:
A blog is a personal web space where you can record your opinions, thoughts, feelings, ideas, and creative expressions on a given topic. A blog is what you make it: a scrapbook, journal, photo album, opinion column, micro book, sketchpad, or soap box. Each week you will respond to prompts about the writing and create an entry. Simply click on Creat Blog Entry to begin. Do not attach your files; copy and paste them into the text box.
For full credit, visual/s must be included.
Creativity is part of your grade, so consider adding media such as photos, videos, art and poems, music, or links that support your ideas. The video below explains how to add photos and create links.
Description:When describing, a writer should aim to use more senses than just sight alone. Smells, sounds, tastes and the way something feels helps evoke an image and create a strong sense of time and place.
Point of View:Point of view is the perspective a story is told from. In first person point of view, the pronouns I, me, my, we, and us are used. In second person point of view, the pronoun you is used. In third person point of view, the pronouns he, she, they, and it are used.
Points of View in Writing
There are three different points of view that can be used in writing: first person, second person, and third person. In academic writing, the third person point of view is usually clearer and allows a writer to come across as more credible. As you move toward more formal writing, you will want to write in third person point of view.
o "You left the baby in the car and it was 11O degrees outside. What were you thinking? Do you want to kill your baby?" As opposed to: "She left the baby in the car while chatting on her phone. It was 110 degrees. What was she thinking? Did she want to kill the baby?"
o Most academic writing does not use 2nd person point of view.
To clarify, here are examples of sentences writte n in the various points of view:
As mentioned earlier, most academic essays should be written almost entirely in the third
As mentioned earlier, most academic essays should be written almost entirely in the third person. The second person should be avoided, and the first person should only be used when using personal examples that help support claims made in the essay. In addition to enhancing credibility, another reason to write primarily in the third person is because frequent changes in point of view can create confusion for the reader.
