Runninghead:STEALINGANDETHICS StealingandEthics NameoftheStudent NameoftheUniversity Authorsnote: 1STEALINGANDETHICS StealingandEthics Stealingisasignificantformofethicaldeviationwhichhasoftenbeenasubjectof academicconcernasthedivisiononthewayinwhichitisdefined.Therearevariousdefinitions ofthetermbutfollowingthesimplestwayofunderstanding,itisimperativetoundertakethe generalconcept.Stealingisconsideredastakingwithoutownersconsent(Dimmock,&Fisher, 2020).Itagainarisesotherissuessuchasstealingsomethingunderacontextofdoingsomething goodorpreventingsomethingwrong.Hence,itisimportanttoevaluatethewayandthecontext underwhichstealingtakesplaceandallowsabetterandcomprehensivelookabouttheroleof thethiefandtheintentionwithwhichthestealingiscarried.AccordingtotheKantiancategorial imperative,therearetwoformulationsunderwhichtheactofstealingneedstoevaluatedto determineitspositionandcategorizationintooneornot. Stealing,whiletheownercannotseeisthefirstscenariowhichshowsthatstealingin mostcasescarriedwhentheownerisnotlooking.However,whenitcomestoRobinHood,the moralitywhichneedstobeconsideredishisintentionofgivingthepoortheirrightofbeingable toeat.Inthiscase,RobinHoodcannotbeconsideredastakingthepropertyoftheownerasit washiseffortofbridgingtheeconomicgap.Thesecondformulationproposetheconsideration thatnoonecanbetreatedasfulfillingforthequestionofmoralitybehindstealing(Laskowski, 2019).Itisapparentthateachindividualsneedstobetreatedasadignifiedindividual.hence, RobinHoodsstealingwasanattemptinthedirectionofattainingthesecondformulation.At thispointinthesociety,stealinganditsviabilityhassplitintothequestionofwhyandhow. 2STEALINGANDETHICS References Dimmock,M.,&Fisher,A.(2020).Stealing.PHI220Ethics.
