Answering Questions on an Assigned Article: APA Referencing, Citing Sources, and Avoiding Plagiarism

APA Referencing for the Assigned Article

This assignment applies to an article that I have pre-selected for you. That article has been placed in Blackboard in the assignment folder. Download and carefully read the entire article.    Using the article, please answer each question below. Ensure that you have thoroughly reviewed all files in the assignment folder for requirements and essential instructions. I find the most common mistake in student essays, assignments, and presentations is not having followed the purpose or instructions. We, as Instructors, can receive very effortful and thoughtful assignments to which we must award very low or failing marks, because of this oversight. It’s disappointing not only for the student who has worked hard and written well, but also for us.   APA REFERENCING: Refer to the section of your assignment instructions entitled “How to Reference”. This section explains how to use APA formatting to create listings on a reference page. With this guide, type a properly formatted APA reference listing for the assigned article. Ensure that you are meticulous to detail. It must be exact to receive full marks. Look thoroughly for the information that you require to complete this question. You might find some of it at the top of your article, in page footers, or at the end of the article. It can be a bit of a treasure hunt. (Note: This is a referencing only of the actual article that you read for your assignment. You should not type here the list of references at the end of that article. Doing so is incorrect and will be a great deal of effort for which I cannot award marks.) : Refer to the sections of your APA Format Instructions entitled “How to Cite” and “When to Cite”. Choose a sentence in the assignment article that contains a citation. Write the sentence and its citation below, exactly as it appears in the article. (Do not use a phrase, part of a sentence, or few words Refer to the sections of your APA Format Instructions entitled “How to Cite” and “Citing Secondary Sources”.  Watch the video on how to cite and reference. Use the files in the assignment folder entitled “Paraphrasing without Plagiarizing” and “Plagiarism – How to Avoid It”.  Suppose that you were writing an essay of your own. Show how you would refer to and cite the sentence you copied in Question # 2 as a secondary source in your essay. To do this question, you must fully and properly paraphrase away from the authors’ words. This is the most difficult question in the assignment. It is also critical for you to learn, so that you don’t plagiarize in your future essays. Take some extra time to work on this question. It will be worth your time and ensure you avoid violating academic integrity in your courses.   The most common errors for question #3 are: Reversing author names Plagiarizing by using too many author words or simply switching word order Plagiarizing by substituting synonyms for the author words (i.e., changing a few words) Not using the sentence from  Identify within your article the purpose of the study. Summarize why the author(s) believed the study was important and their rationale for undertaking it.   Identify whether this study was an experiment, a correlational study, a naturalistic observation, or a case method. Explain precisely how you know. Don’t just quote the authors. Show your understanding. Locate the section of your article where the author(s) discussed who was studied. Describe the participants of the study. Identify the most important information, without re-typing all of the details of the articl
