Importance of Sustainability Reporting in Business Operations

10 Choose one (1) conclusion about context-based sustainability on the final page of the reading provided, McElroy & Engelen (2011). In 100 to 200 words, write a think piece drawing support for your opinion from at least 2 readings from class. Be sure your response is in the style detailed in the course presentation where you first summarize what you are responding to and then respond with your stance/critique/other personal response.

A think piece requires your analysis and your personal take of the paper or papers. You can criticize, agree or disagree with the methodology, results, analysis or conclusions/discussions.  A think piece is still an essay and because is an essay, it has a thesis statement, body and conclusion. Note that your need to pay close attention to APA-7 style in-text citations and bibliography/references on your submitted piece. I will be discounting 25% for not having APA-style in-text citations, for not having complete citations, for not having a bibliography/references page.   

2) We discussed in class that Elon Musk is innovative and a leader in sustainability initiatives, however, he does not participate in reporting to the extent this course promotes. Choose one of his businesses and a sustainability report that would be appropriate for that business. In 70-100 words, explain why you chose that report and how the company would use it. Be specific about the measures that you think would suit the company.

3) Choose one of the following companies and in 70 to 100 words, explain how they are incorporating the circular economy. Make sure to apply concepts of the circular economy in your answer:

• Adidas
• Ikea
• HP
• Burger King

4) Choose a specific business in one (1) of the following areas. Write a short case study, introducing the problem a company is trying to solve and the sustainability measures of business is taking in 70 to 100 words.

1. Any business connected to natural resources.
2. One small and one large business within the same industry.
3. Any business connected to sustainable energy and design.
