Identifying Your Topic and Purpose

Overview: For this project, you will identify a topic to develop into two polishedpieces of writing. Once you have identified a topic and a purpose, you shouldbegin consider the audience (not just the professor, think about whom you wouldwant to read this writing). You will then choose two genres of writing appropriatefor your topic, purpose, and audience. Next, you will begin conducting researchinto the topic. Subsequently, you will write the drafts for your two pieces ofwriting, to be revised, edited and polished in consultation with the professor, whowill guide you at each stage of this project. This assignment is worth 30% of youroverall grade and is broken down into 4 stages, as follows:

Writing Piece 1 : Your first writing piece must be written with a rough draft and areflection in which you identify aspects of the writing that you want to carryforward into the second piece and mistakes that you want to avoid.
