Challenges Faced By Sales and Distribution Managers of SME

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have a significant role in the development of economy of a country. It provides jobs and generates output whose basis is locally produced ingredients. In the long run SMEs can indirectly increase the economic growth due to the SME export revenue. It forms the backbone of economies in many countries (Fink and Kraus, 2009).

Sales and distribution is the most important part of any company. In recent times, many emerging issues are posing serious challenges to the sales of products of small and medium sized companies. All types of business enterprises have sales and distribution problems. The problems are more important for small and medium scale industries due to lack of adequate funds, knowledge, and experience. Some of the problems faced in sales and distribution are competition received from bigger sector, lack of marketing knowledge, lack of proper sales promotion, not up to the mark bargaining power, quality of the product, credit sales etc (Small Business BC, 2013).

The study conducted gave insight knowledge of the challenges faced by sales and distribution managers of small and medium enterprises. The different aspects of the challenges and the reasons behind the challenges were also discussed.
