To address this threat, it is necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the changes that are already occurring.

Rising sea levels: One of the most significant impacts of climate change is the rising of sea levels. This is caused by the thermal expansion of the oceans as they warm, as well as the melting of glaciers and ice caps. Rising sea levels can cause flooding and erosion, and can threaten coastal communities and infrastructure.

Extreme weather events: Climate change is also increasing the frequency and severity of extreme weather events such as heatwaves, droughts, and storms. For example, heatwaves are becoming more frequent and more intense, with higher maximum temperatures and longer duration. This can lead to heat-related illnesses and deaths, as well as increasing the risk of wildfires.
