Brief Introduction Of Total Quality Management (TQM)               

Answer: total quality management (TQM) involves an “organizational–wide efforts in order to create to a permanent workplace environment where all the staffs are motivated to work for the betterment of the business organization and utilize all their skills to their full potential. “To create a climate where the employees continuously improve their ability to provide on demand products and services that customers will find of particular value”. Full emphasis and attention are given to other departments, who are responsible for other additional production for the organization such as the sales, and marketing department, accounting and finance department along with the engineering and design department of the organizations. These departments are responsible and obliged for the improvement of their operations for the betterment of the organizations. According to the management policies, the executives are obliged and are emphasized to “actively manage quality through proper funding, quality training, quality staffing, and smart goal setting”. In the present time there is no such widely agreed upon Total quality management (TQM) approach, heavily depends upon previously developed quality control tools and techniques.

According to the official reports, the term Total Quality Management (TQM) was first termed or coined by the “Department of Trade and Industry in the year 1983 in the National Quality Campaign in the state of United Kingdom. There are also reports that the term Total Quality Management (TQM) may be first coined by the Naval Air Systems Command to describe its quality-improvement efforts in the year 1985 in the United States of America.

Criticism Of These Total Quality Management (TQM)?

Answer: Talking about the main criticisms, as described by Bettina Warzecha in the year 2017, who is a well-known Social Scientist who described the main concepts of Quality Management (QM), which may include concepts like process orientation, controllability and zero defects such as modern myths. Bettina Warzecha describes that the “zero-error processes, along with the associated illusion of controllability involve the epistemological problem of self-referentiality”.  According to Bettina Warzecha, the importance of Quality Management process ignores the artificiality of the fact and thus would arbitrate the difference between structure and process”. As per to Bettina Warzecha, the difficulties of the management process cannot be reduced to a “standardized mathematical procedures”. Bettina Warzecha even argues that the risks and negative effects of the Quality Management process outweigh the benefits and positive effects of the Quality Management process.
