For example, the A record for the domain name "example.com" might map to the IP address "93.184.216.34". When a user types "example.com" into their web browser, the browser sends a DNS query to a DNS server, which looks up the A record for "example.com" and returns the corresponding IP address. The browser then uses this IP address to connect to the web server hosting the "example.com" website.
A records are managed by the domain's authoritative DNS server. The authoritative DNS server is responsible for storing and distributing all of the DNS records for a particular domain. When a user sends a DNS query to resolve a domain name to an IP address, the query is sent to the authoritative DNS server for that domain. The authoritative DNS server then responds with the appropriate DNS record, such as an A record, to resolve the query.
In addition to A records, the DNS system also includes other types of records that are used to store and distribute different types of DNS information. For example, MX records are used to identify the mail servers responsible for handling email for a particular domain, while CNAME records are used to create aliases for domain names.
