You have been selected to be the Guest Writer for the Fall edition of the Food & Wine online magazine. The topic you will be writing about is New World Wine and Food pairings. This article is meant to be educational, interesting, inspiring and visually appealing for readers. The focus is to apply your knowledge gained in this class, conduct your own research and creatively showcase it.

Instructions:

1. Choose one (1) of the following new world wine regions we studied in this course: Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina and South Africa.

2. Find five (5) interesting facts about the culture/customs of the country (point form/bullet point answers are acceptable).

3. Research the traditional foods/dishes of your selected New World country.

Choose two (2) traditional dishes from your selected country with at least one image of each. Avoid breakfast dishes and stick to appetizers, entrees or desserts.

Describe these traditional dishes in detail (a few sentences for each dish). State the name of the dish and include some detail in your description such as ingredients, unique attributes, cooking methods and when this dish is prepared.

Explain why each dish is important to the culture and traditions of its respective country (a few sentences about each dish). Educate your reader!

4. Develop a wine pairing for each of the two (2) traditional dishes you chose above.

Using the analytical approach to wine and food pairing, select one wine/grape varietal that would pair well with each dish.

Explain, using theanalytical approach to wine and food pairing, why you think each of your wine and food pairings make a good pairing.

5. Reflect and Relate: Tell the reader what you found most fascinating during your research. For example, what did you learn about the country and cultures you investigated?  What are the similarities and differences to your own cultural background?
