1. Your essay must address the following questions:
1.1 What are the relations between working class formation and capital mobility, product cycles, and world politics?
1.2 Which role did the Atlantic slave trade play in working class formation?
1.3 What were the strategic questions that were discussed by activists and intellectuals working in the 1st and 2nd International, respectively?
1.4 How did labour movements develop after World War II in the West, the East, and the South, respectively? What were the commonalities and what were the differences between labour movements in these three world regions?

2. In your essay you need to answer all of the above questions. Moreover, the first of these questions refers to Beverly Silver’s book Forces of Labour. This book provides the theoretical core around which the course is built, in answering the following questions you must use these the theoretical concepts introduced in Silver’s book. Failure to do so will lower your grade.

3. Your essay must contain also arguments that are supported with evidence from at least fifteen (15) different sources (scholarly books or articles); failure to do so will result in a reduced grade. In other words, your essay must contain specific references to at least 15 different sources, and a bibliography that includes a proper citation for each reference mentioned and for all portions of the essay that are not your own original work.
